I was reflecting with a friend of mine on this year; we came to the conclusion that 2015 was a year of surrender and integration -- in particular, learning how to balance the feminine and masculine energies -- pushing less, allowing more. For me personally, even though it felt as if nothing was moving fast enough on the outside, I experienced an incredible amount of inner growth and healing.
I feel much more mature and able to handle things in my life. I have also received such wonderful support from like-minded people that have taught me so much about healing and being human. I feel so blessed and grateful for all the love I have received from (and exchanged with) people all over the world. Thank you so much and I am wishing you all a peaceful, joyful Holiday!
Just a reminder: I am taking a couple of weeks off, until January 3rd. If you would like to book a reading for the week of January 4th, click here
This week's headline items: the Sun changes signs from Sagittarius to Capricorn on Monday late evening, marking the day of the Winter Solstice in the northern hemisphere; on Friday morning, the Full Moon in Cancer becomes exact and later that day, Uranus comes to a halt. Finally, on Sunday Jupiter starts to slow down, beginning its station before turning retrograde.
There will also be three Moon VoC phases this week: Tuesday morning (for 12 hours), Thursday afternoon (for almost 9.5 hours), and Saturday late evening (for 7 hours).
Monday: the Moon remains in steady, peaceful Taurus all day.It will journey there until Tuesday evening. With the Moon in Taurus, we seek serenity, security, peace, comfort: The Moon is at her most sensual and constant in Taurus.
Our basic impulse is to relax, resist change, get comfortable: Life… slows… down... We may also be stubborn and materialistic under this influence. As best you can, stop and smell the roses during this time -- enjoy life and its offerings ;-)
Monday morning, an opportune Mercury/Chiron aspectbecomes exact at 8:39am EST. We have been feeling this aspect build from Saturday night on; it will be strong until Tuesday evening. We have an opportunity to bring healing energy to our concrete mind and to our thoughts. We also have a chance to heal insecurities in our verbal, in-person, or email interactions.
We are able to move past harsh criticism of ourselves or others, towards more loving and compassionate structures for thinking and communicating. By bringing love and understanding to our thinking processes, we have a chance to move beyond entrenched habits -- like pushing ourselves really hard, or thinking pessimistically.
What was your family's attitude towards career -- or long-term goals in general? How can you take a gentler approach to your inner dialog now?
Do you have your Ascendent, Career Point (or any personal planets) in 15-19 degrees of Capricorn, Pisces, Taurus or Scorpio? If so, you may be more aware of this opportunity. This is also true for those of us who have our Ascendant or Sun-sign in Gemini or Virgo (Mercury is the ruler of Gemini and Virgo).
Monday at 11:48pm EST, the Sun changes signs from optimistic, adventurous, truth-seeking Sagittarius to practical, accomplishment-oriented, status-oriented Capricorn. This also marks the shortest day of the year (in the northern hemisphere) and the beginning of Winter -- aka the Winter Solstice.
The Solstices are important turning points that take place twice a year: They are energetic gateways for the summer or winter season to come through. Solstice Points are thus extra-potent times to set intentions and take part in ceremonies.
The Sun will journey through the sign of Capricorn until January 20th. Capricorn is a feet-on-the-ground, eyes-on-the-prize sign. As the Sun travels through it, we take a realistic, grounded approach to life; we know how to do things, and how to get things done.
We have a stronger sense of society and its structure, and feel most secure when doing our part within that structure; as such, worldly recognition may take on more importance for us. Making plans for the future can be very effective right now. We are more risk-averse at this time but we are ready to work hard and focus on what is essential.
All this is especially true if you are a Leo or Capricorn Sun-sign or Rising-sign. As a Capricorn, you will feel a good dose of confidence and playfulness in the next four weeks; as a Leo, you are more cautious and practical than usual…working towards a realistic long-term goal might be just the thing for you to do.
Tuesday: the Moon remains in steady, peaceful Taurus until 9:31pm EST(see Monday for details).
Tuesday at 9:26am EST we enter a 12-hour Moon void of course (VoC). that lasts until 9:31pm EST. Use this intuitive time to get grounded in reality, enjoy physical pleasures, and find new daily routines that support your well-being. As always with a Moon VoC, as best as you can, don't start anything brand-new, stick to routine things, or simply go with the flow. You may also want to plan your day ahead of time ;-)
Tuesday at 9:31pm EST, the Moon moves into chatty, versatile Gemini, where it will journey until Thursday night/Friday very early morning. The Gemini Moon keeps us social and busy. Interactions may take place online, on the phone, or face-to-face with those in our immediate environment. With this Moon placement, we like to multitask and stay engaged with life as much as possible: As long as we don't get bored, we're good.
Wednesday: the Moon remains in chatty, versatile Gemini all day (see Tuesday evening for details).
The first half of Wednesday requires adjustments -- and we may need to do a little stretching and growing, when it comes to our inner or emotional experiences. As best as you can, be gentle with yourself and others, seek to understand before seeking to be understood.
In the afternoon, we are asked to slow down, get more serious and find a balance between light chatter and thoughtful, realistic world-views.
Thursday: the Moon remains in chatty, versatile Gemini all day (see Tuesday evening for details).
Thursday morning, an opportune Venus/Jupiter aspect becomes exact at 5:03am EST. We started to feel this aspect from Tuesday evening on; it will be strong until Friday night. We have an opportunity to grow in our social and personal relationships at this time. Humor and caring play a big role in our interactions with others.
We can call upon tolerance, optimism and co-operation when dealing with loved ones now. Financially speaking, things are "on the up"; we may have opportunities now to expand our pocketbooks -- if we make sounds decisions that are in the interest of everyone involved.
Do you have your Ascendant, Career Point (or personal planets) in 21-25 degrees of Scorpio, Virgo, Cancer or Capricorn ? If so, you will be more aware of this opportunity. This is also true for those of us who have our Ascendant or Sun-sign in Taurus, Libra or Sagittarius (Venus is the ruler of Taurus and Libra; Jupiter is the ruler of Sagittarius).
Thursday at 3:04pm EST we enter a Moon void of course (VoC). that lasts almost 9.5-hours, until 12:27am EST (Thursday night/Friday very early morning). Use this intuitive time to share about your existing projects and passions -- especially with collaborators.
As always with a Moon VoC, as best as you can, don't start anything brand-new, stick to routine things, or simply go with the flow. You may also want to plan your afternoon and evening ahead of time ;-) Last-minute Christmas shopping might not be the best idea after 3pm (unless you already know what you are getting ;-)
Lastly, also worth mentioning on Thursday: Since Uranus comes to a halt tomorrow (Friday), it will make its presence known quite forcefully for the next three days. This gives us the opportunity to evaluate how free we actually feel. We might have flashes of insight or new ideas about what needs to change in our lives. Definitely expect the unexpected. As best as you can, stay open and flexible, go with the flow -- and pay attention to those messages from the Universe ;-)
Christmas Day (Friday) is a big day! In the very early morning, at 12:27am EST, the Moon moves into protective, introverted Cancer, where it will journey until Sunday morning. With this Moon placement, we are more sensitive to what people say to (and about) us, so be kind to yourself and others.
Emotional safety is important to us at this time: We like connecting to the familiar, home or family becomes our sanctuary. Nurture yourself and others, but remember: Make sure your glass is filled before letting others drink from it — otherwise we might start resenting others for draining our energies. This also starts the build-up towards the Full Moon, exact Sunday late evening…more on that later…
Friday at 6:12am EST, this month's Full Moon (in 3 degrees of Cancer) becomes exact. As mentioned above, the entrance of the Moon into Cancer (Thursday night/Friday very early morning) started the energetic build up towards this Full Moon. Relationships of all kinds are highlighted during this time -- however, especially family and business-relationships.
As the Sun is in Capricorn during the next two weeks, we are looking for balance, and are more aware than ever that something needs to be brought into alignment. The balance we seek is between the Capricorn-Cancer polarity.
Capricorn teaches us to honor all aspects of the physical world; it also urges us to create and build something of long-term use to everyone. Cancer, on the other hand, represents the formation of the emotional body and an understanding of our feelings. This helps us navigate life by building an awareness of what is healthy or harmful.
In order to emerge as healthy beings, we need to be able to nurture ourselves and others, taking care of our feelings and our "inner baby" (Cancer) — yet we also need to be able to evolve into responsible adults, able to provide for ourselves and others (Capricorn).
Capricorn asks us to step into our power and mature to the point where we no longer need to look outside of ourselves for approval or validation -- to become the master of our own lives. Cancer is about healthy roots; Capricorn is about sharing the fruits of our labor.
In order to develop a healthy inner Capricorn, we must learn to listen to our feelings and honor our needs, not disregard them. Only then can we build something of value and move towards mastery.
Questions you can ask yourself: Am I connected to what nurtures me -- or to my "shoulds"? Does my current environment support my inner growth? Does it provide me with nourishing bonds to others?
Uranus comes to a halt in 16.5 degrees of Aries the same day the Full Moon becomes exact (which also happens to be Christmas Day). This is a sign that, for the next two weeks, we are invited to make a quantum leap forward and make some real changes in at least one area of our lives. Think back to July 26th, when Uranus went retrograde: What was "in your face" then? And now? Where are you being called to allow a big shift?
If you'd like more details on Uranus going direct, see the entry for Friday evening, below.
Neptune in Pisces supports this Full Moon, making a trine to the Moon in Cancer and a sextile to the Sun in Capricorn. As we become more willing to have faith and connect to our intuition, we learn to get in touch with our "feeling body", our inner light and our ability to listen to ourselves. For the next two weeks, give yourself time to tune in to yourself and nurture your "inner baby": What does it need from you? When does it feel most loved and taken care of by you?
Neptune knows a very simple truth about who we really are on a soul level and how we function best. I've been talking in recent videos about the Neptune/Saturn square; this calls us to question our basic assumptions about who we are (and what we believe) in or about the physical world.
Could you shift from "attempting to have a spiritual experience", to simply knowing that you are always already a spiritual being (having a human experience)? What might be possible if you could shift your perspective in that way?
It would be lovely if everyone was on the same path, at the same time; all of us having the same revelations about our basic human nature and spiritual connection... But we all know this isn't so -- it's therefore paramount that we focus on our own inner processes and perspectives, without preaching.
We can connect with those on a similar path, but it's important to remember that each of us has our own path to walk -- and we can't control how fast or slow, how well, or in what fashion anyone does so. Love is about acceptance (self-acceptance included) and knowing that everyone is exactly where they need to be.
In summary: For this Full Moon, as best as you can, honor your feelings and needs. This will help you build something rooted in your inner light & truth -- then share the fruits of your labor with the world. Ask yourself: What if I listened, nurtured, and treated the natural world and all living beings with respect and love — myself included? Do you have your Ascendant, Career Point (or personal planets) in 1-5 degrees of Cancer, Capricorn, Aries and Libra? If so, you are more affected by this month's Full Moon. This is also true for those of us who have our Ascendant or Sun-sign in Leo or Cancer (the Sun rules Leo; the Moon rules Cancer).
Friday afternoon, a harmonious Mercury/Jupiter aspect becomes exact at 3:19pm EST. We started to feel this aspect from Wednesday on, it will be strong until Monday of next week. We are more optimistic and realistic -- which is good, since we see the bigger picture, communicate more positively and readily inspire others.
We are tolerant of other perspectives and ideas, naturally avoid narrow-minded thinking, and feel at ease talking with people from all walks of life. We might be strongly drawn to foreign languages, cultures, and destinations.
Do you have your Ascendant, Career Point (or personal planets) in 20-26 degrees of Capricorn, Virgo or Taurus? If so, you will feel most blessed by this aspect. This is also true for those of us who have our Ascendant or Sun-sign in Gemini, Virgo or Sagittarius (Mercury is the ruler of Gemini and Virgo; Jupiter of Sagittarius).
Friday late evening, at 10:53pm EST, Uranus comes to halt at 16.5 degrees of Aries, turning direct again after its 5-month retrograde phase. We've had 5 months to reevaluate certain things: goals, group causes, issues around freedom. We've also reflected on our vision for the future, and where the obstacles to that vision might lie.
We are now ready to take into the world all that we have learned and make some progress. Uranus will be back to its usual speed by Jan. 5th; at that point you could say its “Change or be changed” -- change is inevitable, so it might as well be change you’ve chosen consciously. Note that Uranus also rules electronics, technology and the internet; these may all be influenced by the planet's slower movement.
Is your Sun sign or Ascendant in Aquarius? Or do you have your Ascendant, Career Point (or personal planets) in 14-19 degrees of Aries,Libra, Capricorn or Cancer? If so, you will feel more connected to the Uranus station.
Saturday: the Moon remains in protective, introverted Cancer all day (see Friday very early morning for more details).
If fears or concerns come up today, simply allow them and observe them; ask yourself: Is this connected to my past or my future? Is it actually here right now? If in fact you notice that the fear/concern is connected to a memory, or is a projection into the future, try asking yourself: Could I simply let it go, just as best as I can, and just for this "now moment"?
Saturday at 10:36pm EST we enter a 7-hour Moon void of course (VoC). that lasts until 5:31am EST (Sunday morning). If you are awake, use this intuitive time to connect with yourself and others on a deep emotional level -- really focus on emotional authenticity. This is a great time for very deep inner work; as best you can, be open to receiving support and nurturing from yourself and others. As always with a Moon VoC, as best as you can, don't start anything brand-new, stick to routine things, or simply go with the flow.
Sunday at 5:31am EST, the Moon moves into fun and attention-loving Leo, where it will journey until Tuesday afternoon. We have a chance to appreciate ourselves and our lives -- and to connect to the heart. Hand out as many compliments as possible, they will be deeply appreciated :-)
Fun, games and romance are a big part of this energy. You might also enjoy spending time with little ones. What are you most grateful for today? What would be heaps of fun? What would be so much fun, you squeak just thinking about it?
As Sunday afternoon rolls around, we begin to feel uneasy: We are being asked to bring awareness to our long-term commitments; this brings a sense of internal dissonance or unease. Fun or Business? Follow your bliss or long-term goals? As best as you can, make adjustments as needed, without judging yourself.
Towards the evening, running in parallel with the above, we are asked to develop inner awareness around our sensitivities and bring compassion to them; this likewise brings up dissonance or unease. Again: as best as you can, make adjustments as needed, and drop any self-judgment.
Also on Sunday, Jupiter starts to slow down, starting its station. As we get closer to Jan. 7th -- when it will come to a halt and go retrograde for 4 months -- this planet's energy will get stronger; this will hold true until Jan. 19th.
We start to be more fully aware of Jupiter's energy; this awareness helps us to get more connected to those energies within us. We get to see where we need to embrace them more fully, so that we can use them in a healthy way, without getting lost in the lower vibrations of their expression.
Until Jan.19th, we have to face what this planet is trying to communicate to us: Jupiter represents our desire to seek insight through knowledge. Some of this planet's keywords include: morality; gratitude; hope; honor; the law. Jupiter is the planet of possibility, optimism and growth (including mental and spiritual growth). Jupiter is also associated with a sense of humor, goodwill, and mercy.
The lower expressions of Jupiter include "Oh, the heck with it", "I deserve this and more", "the rules do not apply to me" -- generally speaking: too much of a good thing, blind optimism, excess, stretching the truth, overindulgence.
Those of us who have any of our personal planets (or our Ascendent) in 21-25 degrees of Virgo, Pisces, Gemini or Sagittarius will be more affected by this station; as will those of us who have their Ascendent or Sun-sign in Sagittarius (Jupiter is the ruler of Sagittarius, so those folks will always be affected more strongly by Jupiter's movements and aspects).
