Last week, as 2015 came to an end, I took a brief look back at the year. It was immediately clear that it was not a year of outer rewards or multiple accomplishments. Instead, it was a rich year of inner connections, releasing past traumas and issues that were holding me back from having a more lively, more abundant and authentic experience in the world. Self-acceptance and self-compassion have been key for me in 2015, as has the ability to forgive myself for being human, doing and thinking through my human lens (aka my conditioning).
I am stepping into 2016 with an open and brave heart, with the "knowingness" that all is aligning as it is meant to, that my body vibrates as one with the Universe and is in tune with its messages and guidance. All is one; my Soul's power is the same as the power of the whole Universe. I'm choosing to use this power with love, responsibility, and the understanding that everything I think, do and vibrate as, causes a ripple effect in the world around me and affects me in turn.
This week's headline items: Mercury comes to a halt (turning retrograde) on Tuesday morning; the Uranus station is coming to an end on Wednesday; Jupiter comes to a halt (turning retrograde) on Thursday late evening; on Friday afternoon, Mercury changes back into Capricorn (due to the retrograde); the Mercury station ends on Saturday morning; and the New Moon in Capricorn becomes exact on Saturday evening.
There will also be three Moon VoC phases this week: Tuesday early afternoon (for a little over 13 hours), Thursday evening (for almost 12.5 hours), and Sunday early afternoon (for a little over 2.5 hours).
Monday: the Moon remains in passionate, all-or-nothing Scorpio all day. It will journey there until Wednesday very early morning. We feel emotions on a deeply personal level. We are motivated by the desire to get to the bottom of things -- superficiality won't work for us now -- and we instinctively read between the lines.
The Moon in Scorpio urges us to uncover our own power; it's an excellent time to rid ourselves of old fears and limiting habits. This tends to be an emotionally colored, all-or-nothing, black or white experience -- it can therefore be an intimate, passionate time. As best as you can, avoid manipulation, brooding and suspicion; instead, open to the wealth of your innermost feelings -- decide to go deeper, allowing all feelings to surface, if they need to.
Embrace all of who you are. Know thyself, love thyself and you shall be set free. Remember: a deep love of all that we are will connect us to the Power within; Fear causes "Force" to show up -- and is ultimately what disempowers ourselves and others.
Monday afternoon and evening present opportunities for getting things done and completing projects -- keep your focus on anything that already started before Mercury entered its station (last Thursday evening, Dec.31st).
One last thing for Monday, as you go through the day, do your best to bear in mind that Mercury will come to a halt tomorrow morning (Tuesday); this may bring some frustrations and stagnations for the next three days around things connected to the Mercury energy (travel, transportation, communication and its devices, mail, etc.)
Tuesday is a most eventful day! The Moon remains in passionate, all-or-nothing Scorpio all day (see Monday for details).
Tuesday morning, at 7am EST, a challenging Mercury/Mars aspectbecomes exact for the second time in one week, due to the Mercury station. We have been feeling this aspect build from Dec. 24th on; it will be strong until this Friday. This aspectbrings some juicy energy to our conversations. This is a chance to have some discussions that have been long overdue.
As best as you can, make it a productive discussion that serves you and others -- a win-win -- otherwise you might feel really awful afterwards. As best as you can, seek to empower yourself and the other person. Also, watch out on the road for some crazy drivers… rushing might not necessarily get you there any faster ;-)
Do you have your Ascendent, Career Point (or any personal planets) in 28+29 degrees of Capricorn, Libra, Aries, Cancer or 0-3 degrees of Aquarius, Scorpio, Leo, Taurus? If so, you may feel more affected by this aspect. This is also true for those of us who have our Ascendant or Sun-sign in Gemini, Virgo or Aries (Mercury is the ruler of Gemini and Virgo; Mars rules Aries)
Mercury comes to a still stand Tuesday morning, at 8:03am EST,in 1 degrees of Aquarius (starting its 3-week retrograde phase), slowing things down tremendously today and tomorrow. Give yourself extra time to go to work this morning or to get things done. If you are traveling today, just simply go with the flow… you'll get there... eventually ;-) The same is true when it comes to all our technological devices…
This retrograde phase will last until Jan. 25th. People worry about Mercury retrogrades, but it’s important not to stop one's life during these times. As mentioned above, certain things may take longer -- but a retrograde gives us a chance to resolve things that have been keeping us from living our vision -- especially things that came up within the past three weeks. Take time to investigate your own thought processes: What feels too busy to you? What if you got really clear about that?
For the next 7 days, we get a chance to explore our inner genius -- to connect from within to what’s unique about us. It's also a chance to re-address anything connected to group experiences, humanitarian causes or technology. This is an internal process -- a chance to honor and communicate our vision, working from the inside to the outside. If you knew you actually could make a difference, what difference would you make?
After Jan. 8th (until Jan. 25th), we get a chance to explore our long-term goals -- connecting from within again -- this time to our planned public image and career. We can readdress business communications. This too is an internal process -- working from the inside to the outside -- and provides a chance to honor and communicate our long-term goals. It's time to rethink, retool and release what no longer works.
As always: with Mercury retrograde, always read the small print -- and re-read a contract before signing (if you have to sign something) -- or ask another person for a second opinion... Basically, during these periods, it's best to be aware of any details that we might have overlooked... and check in with our intuition... and stay open to the possibility of renegotiation or adjustments, down the line!
In general, Mercury Retrograde is a great time for re-evaluating and re-organizing. This is especially true for our thought patterns and decisions (particularly those made in the 3 weeks prior to the start of the retrograde) -- but it's true of our lives in general: we can reach a clearer understanding as to what works, and what doesn’t, and what needs to change. Reconnecting with old friends, clients and family members (especially siblings) is also favored at this time …
Mercury also represents our day-to-day mind; this too is experienced more internally at this time. When it comes to communication, make sure that what you say, write and hear is the same as the intended meaning -- and use the spell-checker ;-)
Another thing to take into consideration: how does each Mercury retrograde phase affect your personal birth chart. Do you have any personal planets that Mercury will align with during its retrograde journey? The houses of your chart each represent different areas of your life -- which of the houses in your chart is affected by this retrograde?
As with any retrograde, some of us will be more affected than others, depending on how it interacts with our personal chart. That will be true if any of the following apply to you: Gemini or Virgo as your Sun- or Rising-Sign (Ascendant) -- or your Ascendant, Career Point (or any personal planets) in 29 degrees of Capricorn, Libra, Aries, Cancer or 0-3 degrees of Aquarius, Scorpio, Leo, Taurus.
Tuesday late morning, a challenging Venus/Neptune aspect becomes exact at 9:33am EST. We have been feeling this aspect build from last Saturday evening on; it will be strong until this Thursday evening. We can be confused, unrealistic, or overly idealistic around love and money -- so it's best to wait until the transit is over, before making big moves in these areas -- if you make long-term financial investments, buy or sell big-ticket items, or start brand-new relationships, it's likely you will not see things as they truly are.
We are actually being asked to have faith; to let our intuition guide us in money and love -- if we are able to do this, we will grow through it. As best as you can, be compassionate with yourself and others during these 5 days -- it might also help to know that relationships and endeavors of a spiritual or artistic nature can move forward at this time.
Do you have your Ascendant, Career Point (or personal planets) in the following placements: 4-11 degrees of Sagittarius, Pisces, Gemini or Virgo? If so, you are more affected by this aspect. This is also true for those of us who have our Ascendant or Sun-sign in Taurus, Libra or Pisces (Venus is the ruler of Taurus and Libra; Neptune rules Pisces).
Tuesday at 12:47pm EST, we enter a Moon void of course (VoC). that lasts a little over 13 hours, until 1:56am EST (Wednesday very early morning). Use this intuitive time to take practical steps forward on existing projects, especially anything you feel particularly passionate about. As always with a Moon VoC, as best as you can, don't start anything brand-new, stick to routine things, or simply go with the flow. You may also want to plan Tuesday afternoon and evening ahead of time ;)
Tuesday late evening, a Sun/Pluto alignment in 15 degrees of Capricorn becomes exact at 10:28pm EST. We have been feeling this aspect build from last Saturday on; it will be strong until this Friday. With this alignment, an all-or-nothing attitude is very likely. This alignment asks of us that we reclaim our authority and make some fundamental changes in our world.
Some of the structures that we built in the past may no longer be solid; they must fall now, to be replaced with something that empowers us. It is necessary to redefine feminine and masculine “powers”. What do you need to acknowledge or embrace? What is rejected or ignored? If you truly had choice in the matter, what kind of future would you want to step into?
Do you have your Ascendent, Career Point (or any personal planets) in 12-18 degrees of Capricorn, Cancer, Aries or Libra? If so, you may be more affected by this alignment. This is also true for those of us who have our Ascendant or Sun-sign in Leo or Scorpio (the Sun is the ruler of Leo; Pluto rules Scorpio)
Wednesday at 1:56am EST, the Moon moves into optimistic, adventurous, truth-seeking Sagittarius, whereit will journey until Friday late morning. New experiences and adventures satisfy a deep emotional need. The Sagittarius Moon persuades us to come from intuition and think in a broader manner.
We seek meaning and ideas that expand upon the "here and now"; we pursue truth and a new vision -- the big picture, rather than the details. Spontaneity is key, we'd rather improvise than plan; this may tip into just "winging it". We could also overdo or overstate.
Another thing worth mentioning for today (Wednesday): Uranus’s station is coming to an end. This energy connects us to our inner freedom and individuality; since it’s back up to its regular speed, it's easier to access those qualities and bring them to the outside world. We are now ready to address anything that has come up for us in the past 3.5 weeks around freedom and/or evolutionary change.
Thursday: the Moon remains inoptimistic, adventurous, truth-seeking Sagittarius all day (see Wednesday very early morning for details).
Thursday morning, a challenging Sun/Uranus aspectbecomes exact at 7:22am EST. We have been feeling this aspect build from Monday on; it will be strong until Sunday evening. This aspect asks us to stretch a little. We can't expect much of anything this week... except the unexpected!
Disrupted routines and plans are quite possible, especially around career/business and public affairs, this helps to stimulate new approaches. Revelations and breakthroughs are also possible.
During this transit, we feel the need for action, as we feel quite restless -- but if we don't know where we're headed, we might act in ways that don't serve us in the long run. As best as you can, go with the flow, stay open to experiencing something new and wonderfully unexpected. Avoid making major decisions for the time being... especially hasty ones ;-)
You can think of this as "reorganizing" time -- like moving your desk to a new location -- try not to resist the reorganization. Enjoy the ride…
Do you have your Ascendent, Career Point (or any personal planets) in 13-20 degrees of Capricorn, Aries, Libra or Cancer? If so, you may be more affected by this aspect. This is also true for those of us who have our Ascendant or Sun-sign in Aquarius or Leo (the Sun rules Leo; Uranus rules Aquarius)
Thursday at 9:44pm EST, we enter an almost 12.5-hour Moon void of course (VoC). that lasts until 10:07am EST (Friday late morning). You may feel a need for adventure and expansion on one hand, and on the other, an opportunity to reach a new perspective on work (or health issues). Use this intuitive time to make adjustments, and find creative solutions, when it comes to these incompatible energies.
As always with a Moon VoC, as best as you can, don't start anything brand-new, stick to routine things, or simply go with the flow. You may also want to plan Thursday night and Friday morning ahead of time ;-)
Thursday at 11:40pm EST, Jupiter comes to a halt, starting its 4-month retrograde phase in 23 degrees of Virgo. The retrograde phases are inner processes -- they help us connect to a particular energy internally, and thus express it externally. Jupiter retrograde brings a chance to tap inner wisdom, optimism and sense of possibility, and an inner understanding of how the world works. This retrograde phase lasts until May 9th.
During this time, we get to choose what we truly believe -- which beliefs serve us and which don't -- and we can more easily let go of limiting beliefs and experience new truths. While retrograde in Virgo, Jupiter particularly invites us to take a look at our own inner critic and attitudes around health, clutter or efficiency.
What do we believe about our skills ? What in our daily routine might be holding us back? What "unfinished business" could we settle in connection to health? Well-being? Daily routines? Work-relationships?
The connection to inner wisdom is heightened. Ask yourself: What do I “just know”? If the answer is “I don’t know”, ask yourself “What if I did know? What mighty it be in that case?”
Do you have your Ascendent, Career Point (or any personal planets) in 21-25 degrees of Virgo? If so, you may be more affected by this retrograde phase. This is also true for those of us who have our or Ascendent or Sun-sign in Sagittarius (Jupiter rules Sagittarius, so Sagittarius will always be affected more strongly by Jupiter's movements and aspects).
Friday: the Moon remains inoptimistic, adventurous, truth-seeking Sagittarius and VoC until 10:07am EST (see Wednesday very early morning and Thursday evening for details).
Friday morning, an opportune Sun/Chiron aspect becomes exact at 9:14am EST. We have been feeling this aspect build from Wednesday on; it will be strong until this Sunday. This aspect is an opportunity for self-healing; this could support our confidence and brings us into better alignment with our physical and emotional body.
We all have flaws, wounds, insecurities. The more we can open up to that being ok for ourselves, the less judgmental we will be with others. This is also a great time to recognize that our so-called flaws and insecurities have become some of our best assets and strengths -- how might this be true for you?
Until Sunday, as best as you can, practice gentleness; be kind to yourself and others. Again, remember: an opportunity is an opening, a glimpse of new possibilities -- so "opportunities" are not simply handed to us, tied up with a bow -- we have to "take" them, and make something of them. What will you do with this particular opportunity?
Do you have your Ascendant, Career Point (or personal planets) in 16-20 degrees of Capricorn, Pisces, Taurus or Scorpio? If so, you will be more aware of this opportunity. This is also true for those of us who have our Ascendant or Sun-sign in Leo or Pisces (the Sun rules Leo; Neptune is the ruler of Pisces).
Friday late morning, at 10:07am EST, the Moon moves into practical, accomplishment-oriented Capricorn, where it will journey until Tuesday morning. The Capricorn Moon emphasizes our need for structure and forward planning. We are motivated by a desire for success; achievement and manifestation are paramount.
We are resourceful and pursue economy with time, energy, and other resources. We take things more seriously during Moon in Capricorn: we look reality in the eye. This can be a very productive period. As best as you can, avoid "should-ing" on yourself. Take the pressure off: try saying "I am doing the best I can and that's all I can ever do" ;-)
Saturn (ruler of Capricorn) is transiting through Sagittarius right now, making this a great time to explore our beliefs. It's also a great time to focus on the greater meaning of life and for going beyond conditioned thinking structures (feel free to watch my video about Saturn in Sagittarius until 2017)
As best as you can, be authentic about what you believe: Do your beliefs actually match your direct experience of life -- as it is for you now, not how it was 5 or 10 years ago?
Friday afternoon at 2:36pm EST, Mercury's retrograde takes it back into practical, accomplishment- and status-oriented Capricorn; it will remain in that sign until Feb. 13th.
Mercury already journeyed through Capricorn, from Dec. 11th, 2015 until Jan. 1st, 2016. Think back to that time and see what needs to be re-communicated, re-thought, re-visited, re-planned, re-structured, etc. Take your time, really think things through -- and remember: this is an inner process. When Mercury goes direct again on Jan. 25th, our insights will inform our plans for the outside world.
Mercury in Capricorn is a time when our minds like to make concrete plans for the future. A systematic, practical approach to reaching our goals is now favored; we are good at focusing on practical matters and getting down to the essentials.
We do not waste any words at this time -- what we say is truthful and to the point. We see reality very clearly now -- and it might not look as rosy as we thought. As best as you can, use this time to get in touch with what's real in your life -- without going down the "rabbit hole" of pessimistic inadequacy ;-)
Do you have your Ascendant or Sun-sign in Gemini or Virgo? If so, you will be more serious and possible more eager to accomplish concrete goals. Do you have your Ascendent or Sun-sign in Capricorn? If so, you will most likely feel more chatty for the next 5 weeks.
Friday late evening, a Venus/Saturn alignment in almost 12 degrees of Sagittarius becomes exact at 11:11pm EST. We have been feeling this aspect build from Wednesday on; it will be strong until Monday of next week. This alignment brings a sense of maturity and commitment to our relationships and the things we most value. Relationships feel stable and steady, although feelings are expressed reservedly, formally, or sparingly.
We experience a new sense of realism in existing partnerships. A sense of duty may lead us to sacrifice a personal pleasure to a "cause" or loved one. We are ready to face any problems in personal relationships that have been swept under the carpet -- and they will likely surface. Renewed ties to old friends or lovers are possible, as is a new sense of responsibility in existing relationships. This is not the best time to start a brand-new relationship.
Do you have your Ascendant, Career Point (MC) or personal planets in 9-15 degrees of Sagittarius, Gemini, Virgo or Pisces? If so, you will feel the effects of this aspect more strongly than otherwise. This is also true for those of us who have our Ascendant or Sun-sign in Taurus, Libra or Capricorn (Venus is the ruler of Taurus and Libra; Saturn is the ruler of Capricorn)
Saturday: the Moon remains in practical, accomplishment-oriented Capricorn all day (see Friday late morning for details).
Mercury ends its station on Saturday morning and gets back to its normal pace through the sky -- but moving backward through the sky, as seen from Earth (that’s what “retrograde” refers to). We have a chance to do some internal work on thinking and/or communication issues that came up over the last couple of weeks, in connection with our priorities and long-term goals.
Saturday at 8:31pm EST: the Moon aligns with the Sun in 19 degrees of Capricorn. This starts a new Moon cycle. This is a good time to go within and seed anything we would like to accomplish for the next 28 days.
The highest vibration of Capricorn is the development of responsibility, resourcefulness, reliability, self-mastery, and the ability to set realistic goals and healthy boundaries. The next 28 days is a perfect time to work on developing maturity and common sense. Prepare for the future, make commitments and recognize responsibilities, nurture your dreams in a realistic manner. It is best to focus on setting and achieving practical and attainable long-term goals -- one step at a time.
Inner strength and self-reliance result almost entirely from dealing with adversity. Capricorn knows that obstacles are a part of life; they show us where we have an opportunity to become more capable -- and where we have gone out of alignment with reality or our inner truth. Where is the obstacle? What might just get you back on track?
The lower vibrations of Capricorn concern domination. This could show up as needing to win at any cost, or conversely with giving away our power and authority, out of a fear that we will dominate others. Ask yourself: Where have I been looking for approval or permission? Where do I need to set and honor realistic goals?
This New Moon aligns with Pluto in Capricorn and squares Uranus in Aries. It therefore conveys an extra-potent message about our perception of physical reality -- time and space -- and (again) our relationship to power. It extends another invitation to step up in the world and become mature, responsible planetary citizens, while honoring our individuality -- in other words, making a difference one by one, even when it seems as though we are too small to create a big shift on our own. No matter how small it may seem, every ripple moves something, changes something...
The New Moon also sextiles Chiron in Pisces and trines retrograde/stationing Jupiter in Virgo. This is an opportunity for healing -- and allowing ourselves to be human while on our path to greater, more meaningful worldly accomplishments. We see the bigger picture and have greater flexibility. What if you could be productive, and gentle with yourself, all at the same time?
Given that Saturn rules Capricorn, the Venus/Saturn alignment in Sagittarius also plays an important role with this New Moon. We have an opportunity to choose how we relate to higher truth, by examining and clarifying how our values, commitments and priorities align with it (the same could be true of our relationship to a particular belief system). What if you chose a relationship that was deeply aligned with who you truly are, not who you think you "should" be, or used to be?
What could you accomplish coming from your heart just a little more than your head? When have you felt the happiest? What if you committed 5% more to the things, people and places in your life that make you happy?
Choose wisely for 2016: We have a chance to blaze the trail to a better future, to participate consciously in the evolution of existence on this planet. Trust your inner truth! Step into your inner authority, then use it wisely! I'll be posting a video on the subject by Wednesday evening, feel free to watch :-)
Do you have your Ascendant or any personal planets in one of the following placements: 17-21 degrees of Capricorn, Libra, Aries, or Cancer? If so, you may feel the effects of this New Moon more strongly.
The New Moon is also the best time to set some powerful intentions for this month's Moon cycle. Always set intentions after the New Moon becomes exact -- and definitely not during a Moon void of course phase.
So this month, the best time to set intentionswould be any time between 8:31pm Saturday evening and 12:39pm Sunday early afternoon, or Sunday after 3:23pm until Monday (Jan.11th) at 8:09pm (EST/ New York-time).
Sunday: the Moon remains in practical, accomplishment-oriented Capricorn until 3:23pm EST (see Friday late morning for details).
On Sunday at 12:39pm EST, we enter a roughly 2.5 hour Moon void of course (VoC) (it ends at 3:23pm EST). Use this intuitive time to tune in to your inner dialog around priorities and long-term goals. What works? What doesn't? What's in alignment with who you are? What isn't? As always with a Moon VoC (as best as you can) don't start anything brand-new -- stick to routine things, or simply go with the flow.
Sunday at 3:23pm EST, the Moon moves into freedom-loving, forward-thinking Aquarius, where it will journey until Tuesday evening. The energy of the Aquarian Moon relates to our instinct for improvement. Reactions are more intellectual than emotional; interactions more impersonal than personal. We are likely to have an increased fascination with the new and unusual.
Social gatherings, anything connected with group ideals and goals for the future, brainstorming, new ideas and methods, progress: all these are promoted during the time the Moon moves through Aquarius. Again: we have our eyes on the future -- or on outer space :-) Personal freedom becomes paramount.
Uranus (ruler of Aquarius) is transiting through Aries right now. This is therefore a great time to focus on our personal vision for life and humanity; we also get clearer on how sharing our unique ideas (and fighting for our individual goals or rights), might make a difference for others.
A head's up for next Monday: the Moon remains in freedom-loving, forward-thinking Aquarius all day (see Sunday afternoon for details). At 8:09pm EST, we enter an almost 23-hour Moon void of course (VoC). that lasts until 6:53pm EST (Tuesday evening). More about all the details in next week’s forecast ;-)
