Last week was so magical. Probably all that Leo-energy :-)
I was able to reconnect with so many of my friends from New York over the phone and have some lovely conversations. I feel so blessed that I will be able to visit there for two whole weeks and support one of my dearest friends as she celebrates her love and begins a new phase of life with her sweetheart.
As most of you already know, while I'm in New York in late August, I will be doing a limited number of "in-person" readings. There are only 5 slots left, so if you would like my support with the upcoming Eclipses, email me as soon as possible ;-) As a gentle reminder, I won't be giving any skype or phone readings between Aug. 23rd and Sept. 6th.
This week's headline items:Mercury enters its shadow phase on Wednesday morning; the first Quarter Moon in Scorpio becomes exact on Wednesday afternoon; Uranus ends its station on Friday; on Friday night/Saturday very early morning, Venus moves over the Solar Eclipse degree from Sept. 1st; and finally, Saturn comes to halt in Sagittarius a little later that day.
There will also be three Moon VoC phases this week: Monday afternoon (for a little over 11 hours), Thursday very early morning (for 12 hours), and Saturday afternoon (for a little over 10.5 hours).
Monday (August 8th): the Moon remains in harmony-loving, balance-seeking Libra all day. It will journey there until Monday night/Tuesday very early morning. The energy of the Libra Moon helps us be naturally courteous and diplomatic; we are more polite at this time, as we seek the approval of others.
We very much want to maintain equal, fair relationships at this time, and are therefore open to making compromises and negotiating. These next two days are a great time for mediation -- but our need for peace and accompanying aversion to direct conflict could pull us to "yes" more easily than we might like.
We may also be able see both sides of the equation so well that we can't make decisions. As best as you can, find an inner balance with this and communicate what needs to be said with grace and charm -- even if it's "No" ;-) One last quick note: this is also a great time for anything to do with visual arts.
Monday at 1:41pm EDT, we enter a Moon void of course (VoC). that lasts for a little over 11 hours, until 12:51am EDT (Tuesday very early morning). Use this intuitive time to balance your need for equal and harmonious connection, with your drive toward personal visions and ideas.
As always with a Moon VoC, as best as you can, don't start anything brand-new, stick to routine things, or simply go with the flow. You may also want to plan the second half of Monday ahead of time ;-)
Tuesday (Aug. 9th) at 12:51am EDT, the Moon moves into passionate, all-or-nothing Scorpio, where it will journey until Thursday afternoon. We feel things deeply and have "X-Ray Vision" and "Bullshit-Smelling Abilities" ;-)
Emotional authenticity is extremely important to us at this time; anything less than 100% emotional honesty could be perceived as flat-out dishonest. Once we feel safe trusting someone, we want to merge with them, preferably forever... as long as our trust is never betrayed.
The Moon in Scorpio urges us to uncover our own power. This occurs by a process of subtraction -- it urges us to let go of whatever disempowers us. It's therefore an excellent time to look at "old" fears, limiting habits or emotional attachments, especially those stemming from past traumas.
Moon in Scorpio tends to run right over ambiguity -- it's "in or out", "with us or against us", "love me or leave me". It can therefore be stormy -- a cold winter storm, or a torrid tropical storm of passion, depending on how we "work" the energies :-)
Manipulation and paranoia are the lower vibrations of this aspect, so as best you can, be straightforward -- act in good faith and assume it in others. Best of all, be truly present to the fluctuations of your feelings -- no matter if they're "polite" or "timely". Feelings aren't facts, but they are information -- and heeding them will help you embrace all of who you are.
Know thyself -- and love thyself -- you shall be set free. Remember: Love connects us to the Power within; Fear causes "Force" to show up -- and that's ultimately what disempowers us and others.
This Moon placement also starts the build up towards the First Quarter Moon, which will be exact on Wednesday afternoon (more about that in tomorrow's forecast)
Wednesday (Aug. 10th): the Moon remains in passionate, all-or-nothing Scorpio all day (see Tuesday very early morning for details).
Wednesday morning around 7:30am EDT, Mercury enters a 3-week shadow phase, as it reaches 14 degrees and 50 minutes of Virgo. This precedes the retrograde phase, which will begin on August 30th in 29 degrees of Virgo (more on that in 3 weeks). So what is the "shadow phase"? To explain this, I'll quickly cover what happens when a planet "stations" and then goes "retrograde".
Relative to us on Earth, a planet sometimes looks like it is slowing down ("stationing"), then stopping. After being still for a while, it actually appears to go "backward" through the sky (this is the "retrograde" phase). It's a little like catching up to a car on the highway, driving exactly alongside it for a moment, then passing it and pulling ahead.
At first, retrograde movement is slow, but the planet gradually reaches its normal pace through the sky -- except it's going backward. The process then reverses itself: the backward pace slows, the planet crawls to a "halt", then it starts to move forward again (i.e. it goes direct). In our car analogy, it's like the car you just passed gradually speeds up and passes you again.
There are also two "shadow" phases -- during these, the planet travels over a part of the sky it will later "revisit". The first "shadow" comes before the planet moves backward; the second comes when the planet starts to catch back up (after going direct).
It's like you went hiking and left something behind at camp. If you went back to get it, you'd have some catching up to do, and would see the same scenery twice or more.
Mercury's shadow phases usually last 2-3 weeks before the Retrograde phase begins and three weeks after it.
If you want to buy, sell or ship big-ticket items -- especially connected to transportation (cars, airline tickets, etc.) or communication devices (phone, computer, iPad, etc.) -- be aware of the shadow periods as well as the retrograde phases. If possible, get these things done before Mercury enters it's shadow or wait until after the shadow phases are over -- that would be Oct. 6th in this case ;-)
Of course, if there is something that must get done during these phases, don't put your whole life on hold, just because Mercury is retrograde or in it's shadow. Sometimes things line up exactly at the right time; as best as you can, trust that it's all "perfect" ;-)
Wednesday afternoon, at 2:21pm EDT,the first Quarter Moon becomes exact in 18.5 degrees of Scorpio. We start to feel this aspect from the moment the Moon entered Scorpio on Tuesday early morning. The Moon in passionate, all-or-nothing, intensely-feeling, private Scorpio makes a challenging aspect to the Sun in fun-loving, extroverted, attention-seeking, proud Leo.
We feel compelled to take action. Last week, on Aug. 2nd, the New Moon in Leo became exact: "Seeds" planted then are probably "sprouting" by now -- and making their first real contact with the outside world. This is therefore a time to stretch and grow -- and create some forward momentum. We may feel anxious or unusually busy.
As best as you can, go one breath at a time. Allow for changes, remain flexible (as much as possible), and find creative solutions for your day-to-day interactions with others.
Do you have your Ascendant, Career Point (or personal planets) in any of the following: 16-21 degrees of Scorpio, Leo, Taurus or Aquarius? If so, you will feel the effects of this first Quarter Moon more strongly than otherwise. This is also true for those of us who have our Ascendant or Sun-sign inLeoorCancer(the Sun rules Leo; the Moon rules Cancer).
Wednesday evening, a harmonious Mercury/Pluto aspectbecomes exact at 7:25pm EDT. We started feeling this aspect build from Monday on; it will be strong until Friday. Our words and our "speaking" are very grounded and realistic. We can feel really empowered by what we say (and how we say it) during this time. Our conviction and passion helps us to connect and empower others.
We are strongly connected to our inner truth and can analyze and understand our motivations around long-term goals. We investigate our own thought structures in a very realistic, focused way, and look to see what needs to be communicated next.
Do you have your Ascendant, Career Point (or personal planets) in 12-18 degrees of Virgo, Capricorn or Taurus? If so, you will be even more blessed by this aspect than those who do not; this is also true for those of us with our Ascendant or Sun-sign in Gemini, Virgo or Scorpio (Mercury rules Gemini and Virgo, Pluto rules Scorpio)
Thursday (Aug. 11th): the Moon remains in passionate, all-or-nothing Scorpio until 1:24pm EDT (see Tuesday very early morning for details).
Thursday very early morning, at 1:22am EDT we enter a 12-hour Moon void of course (VoC). that lasts until 1:24pm EDT. Use this intuitive time as an opportunity to do some research and bring a broader mindset to your daily routines.
As always with a Moon VoC, as best as you can, don't start anything brand-new, stick to routine things, or simply go with the flow. You may also want to plan the first half of Thursday ahead of time ;-)
Thursday at 1:24pm EDT, the Moon moves into optimistic, adventurous, truth-seeking Sagittarius, whereit will journey until Saturday night/Sunday very early morning. We're strongly motivated to explore and learn. We're not likely to be big fans of routine -- diversity and new adventures work best at this time -- we're also physically restless and need to burn that off with activity and physical exercise.
We tend to feel more open, optimistic and inspired -- but we also have a high degree of independence, which means we'd rather inspire others to do things our way, than take orders.
Inspiring others could come easier than normal, as we can see the bigger picture, leaving us confident that others will agree with us, once they see what we see. As best as you can, speak your truth without assuming that everyone is on the same page as you. Improvisation works well for us at this time, as we are spontaneous and love living on the edge -- just watch out you aren't overdoing or overstating things.
Friday (Aug. 12th): the Moon remains inoptimistic, adventurous, truth-seeking Sagittarius all day (see Thursday afternoon for details).
Friday: although it’s still retrograde, Uranus resumes its normal pace through the sky, ending its station. What has come up in the last four weeks around radical change, personal freedom, and needing to individuate? How closely are you in touch with your personal vision for life? The retrograde phase is a good time to do some internal work in this area (the retrograde ends on Dec. 29th).
Friday evening, the second Jupiter/Chiron oppositionof the year becomes exact at 7:59pm EDT. We could feel the previous one from Feb. 5th until March 10th; we started to feel this opposition around July 29th and will feel it strongly until Aug.25th.
We may be pulled in two different directions: On the one hand, we have a clear, positive outlook and a desire to be of service in a larger way; on the other, we are called to embrace our insecurities concerning our intuition and faith in the flow of life. This aspect is about finding a balance between these two pulls. It invites us to soften our inner critic's voice and integrate practical thinking with compassion and kindness.
We seek for meaning and significance in life, but "personal philosophies" and belief systems don't cut it for us -- and a crisis of faith may result, leaving us feeling like we're the only ones who don't get it (or the only ones who do). It may feel as if your old spiritual "clothes" no longer fit.
Trying to weather this by rushing through the day will not help -- any answers will be found within. Look especially for ways you could adjust and let go of perceptions that no longer connect you to spirit and wholesomeness. As best as you can, bring heart-centered, healthy routines into your life.
This is a good time for healing modalities that use water and sound: flotation tanks, hot salt baths, soothing music, drumming, tibetan singing bowls, etc.
As best as you can, be kind to yourself with this process; remember that true healing comes from understanding, embracing and even loving who we are deep down... A spirit who lives in human form. What might happen if you embraced your own humanity an extra 5%?
Do you have your Ascendant, Career Point (or personal planets) in 21-27 degrees of Virgo, Pisces, Gemini or Sagittarius? If so, you will be more affected by this aspect. This is also true for those of us who have our Ascendant or Sun-sign in Sagittarius (Jupiter is the ruler of Sagittarius)
Last but not least, I wanted to mention that Saturn will come to a halt tomorrow morning (Saturday). As best as you can between Friday and Sunday, bring flexibility and open-mindedness to any sources of frustration; if you also bring commitment and maturity to what you believe to be true about yourself, others and life itself, you will feel more grounded in reality.
Saturday (Aug. 13th)-- especially the first half of the day --is a big day (energetically speaking).
Firstly, let's talk about the Moon: it remains inoptimistic, adventurous, truth-seeking Sagittarius all day (see Thursday afternoon for details).
On Sept. 1st, the Solar Eclipse will occur in 9 degrees of Virgo;Venus moves over that same degree on Saturday, very early in the morning (around 2am EDT). For the next five-and-a-half months, pay attention to whatever comes up in connection to love, relationships, finances or your own self-worth... and "move with it" as best you can. What are you experiencing that resonates within your whole being? Where are you being asked to open up your heart?
Saturday morning, a somewhat challenging Jupiter/Uranus aspect becomes exact at 5:02am EST. We've been feeling this aspect from last Sunday on (Aug. 7th); it will be strong until next week Thursday (Aug. 18th). This aspect operates more on an internal level. We feel uneasy about something, almost awkward -- and we need to make a choice. An inner awareness needs to be developed in order to see what needs adjusting.
We might find it difficult to reach agreements -- or even find common ground with others. This could result in an uneasiness: We need to make changes, but don't necessarily know what, how or when. There could also be bursts of rebelliousness if we are not in touch with ourselves. We might avoid making dramatic changes until we're clearer about what we want -- awareness is key with this aspect. What is needed? How can we serve the broader view? Where do we need some clarity?
Do you have your Ascendent, Career Point (or any personal planets) in 23-26 degrees of Virgo or Aries? Or, given that Mercury is the ruler of Gemini and Virgo while Jupiter rules Sagittarius, your Ascendant or Sun-sign is in Sagittarius or Aquarius? If either is true for you, you'll likely feel this aspect more strongly than others.
Saturday at 5:50am EDT, Saturn comes to a halt, starting to turn direct again. After being retrograde for 4.5 months, Saturn begins the process of turning direct, by first coming to a halt at almost 10 degrees of Sagittarius.
As best as you can during the course of Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, bring flexibility and open-mindedness to any sources of frustration. If you can also bring commitment and maturity to what you believe to be true about yourself, others and life, you will feel more grounded in reality.
Over the course of the past four-and-a-half months, we've had a change to reassess our limits and boundaries, reclaim our authority, and become more realistic and responsible. It’s time to move forward now -- and our progress will be in direct proportion to the amount of “inner work” we’ve done since late March.
Saturn represents our structures, responsibilities, commitments -- and also our ability to "do" life on life's terms. When this planet comes to a halt, we get to see where we need to create or renew commitments. It may also seem like our physical realities have come to a compete halt: Take a deep breath whenever you can, as often as you can (especially today and tomorrow).
Capricorns, Aquarians (whether by Sun-sign or Ascendent) and people with personal planets in 7-12 degrees of Sagittarius, Gemini, Piscesor Virgo will feel a sense of relief as Saturn starts speeding up again.
Moving forward with our long-term goals will be easier now, as we have more clarity: We can integrate what we have learned over the past 4.5 months and more easily align our inner commitments and goals with the outer world.
Saturday late morning, a challenging Venus/Saturn aspect becomes exact at 10:31am EDT. We started to feel this aspect from Wednesday evening on; it will be strong until next week Monday evening. It asks us to stretch and grow beyond how we've known ourselves in our relationships up to this point -- a process of maturing that requires we adjust and stay flexible.
On the one hand, we want to improve our relationships in a very practical way, thinking our way through things in detail. On the other hand, we feel a sharp need to explore “the larger truth” about ourselves and others — to determine what beliefs align with our own direct experience. Do your best to make space for both of these urges.
We tend to be more cautious when it comes to relationships and finances now -- and in fact, this is not the best time to start a brand-new romantic relationship. Financially though, this aspect can be eye-opening; if we can find creative ways to deal with money, we will grow from it. The key is to approach things in both realms with intuition and maturity.
Rigidity or pushing doesn't usually get us what we want: Sometimes, it’s better to go one step at a time; that way, we can come back later with a stronger approach and more mature expectations.
Do you have your Ascendent, Career Point (or any personal planets) in 7-13 degrees of Virgo, Sagittarius, Gemini or Pisces? If so, you will feel this aspect quite strongly. This is also true for those of us who have our Ascendant or Sun-sign in Taurus, Libra or Capricorn (Venus is the ruler of Taurus and Libra; Saturn is the ruler of Capricorn)
Saturday at 1:37pm EDT, we enter a Moon void of course (VoC). that lasts a little over 10.5 hours, until 12:11am EDT (Sunday very early morning). Use this intuitive time to make necessary adjustments. Honor your need for adventure and exploration of life -- and your desire for growth around daily routines or health issues. You may also feel a pull between your introverted and extroverted sides.
As always with a Moon VoC, as best as you can, don't start anything brand-new, stick to routine things, or simply go with the flow. You may also want to plan the second half of Saturday ahead of time ;-)
Sunday (Aug. 14th) at 12:11am EDT, the Moon moves into practical, accomplishment-oriented Capricorn, where it will journey until Tuesday morning. We tend to be more realistic, serious, cautious; this can support practical endeavors and financial matters.
Our ambition surges and brings with it a need for structure and planning; when you add in the pragmatism this aspect supports, you can see how this could be a very productive time for business and long-term goals. Our reputation becomes very important to us.
As best as you can during this aspect, avoid "should-ing" on yourself. Take the pressure off, perhaps by saying "I am doing the best I can and that's all I can ever do" ;-)
Saturn is the ruler of Capricorn; it's transiting through Sagittarius right now, making this a great time to explore limiting beliefs and bust through conditioned thought structures. It's also a great time to take a more serious look at the "meaning of life".
As best as you can, be authentic about your beliefs: Do they actually match your direct experience of life -- as it is for you now, rather than 5 or 10 years ago? What is true as of now? What is not?
Sunday afternoon, a Venus/Neptune opposition becomes exact at 1:03pm EDT. We started to feel this aspect from Thursday on; it will be strong until Tuesday of next week. We are ready to dissolve anything that we valued in the past that no longer serves either ourselves or humanity.
Our relationships might feel confusing or disappointing, they might even be "dissolving" -- but this is helping us get more connected with our inner knowingness, or our inner sensing of what feels "right". Compassion may play a big role in our interactions.
This also might not be the best time to start a new relationship, as we have the tendency to idealize others, leading to disappointment down the line. As best as you can, find your inner balance with what's real and what's not… and allow others to be human, limitations and all ;-)
Financially, we may want to invest in creative or spiritual endeavors that include others, but hold off on buying anything concrete or practical until after Aug.16th.
Do you have your Ascendant, Career Point (or personal planets) in the following placements: 8-14 degrees of Pisces, Virgo,Sagittarius or Gemini ? If so, you are more affected by this aspect. This is also true for those of us who have our Ascendant or Sun-sign in Taurus, Libra or Pisces (Venus is the ruler of Taurus and Libra; Neptune rules Pisces).
A head's up for next Monday (Aug. 15th): the Moon remains in practical, accomplishment-oriented Capricorn (see Sunday very early morning for details). At 10:45pm EDT,we enter a Moon void of course (VoC). that lasts for a little over 9 hours, until 7:52am EDT (on Tuesday morning). More about all the details in next week’s forecast ;-)
