The first half of last week was quite hectic; towards the end of the week, the focus shifted to relationships and connecting with others. I could feel the Jupiter/Pluto square quite strongly... I had to remind myself to stay open rather than moving into fearful thinking, mostly along the lines of "there is so much to do and accomplish, and so little time to do it in"...
Every breath I took was a reminder that there is always exactly the "right" amount of time available for what I choose to do.
I have extended the November Special until Dec. 15th! Yay! For those of you who want to feel empowered throughout 2017, and have solid, continuous support all year long, take advantage of the Monthly Forecasting Forum Package Deal -- click here for more info
This week's headline items: the New Moon in Sagittarius becomes exact on Tuesday morning; the Sun squares the degree of the Sept. 1st Solar Eclipse; on Thursday, Chiron comes to a halt in almost 21 degree of Pisces and Mercury enters its shadow phase; Mercury changes signs from Sagittarius to Capricorn on Friday afternoon; and on Sunday, it is time to take actions on your New Moon Intentions.
There will also be three Moon VoC phases this week: Monday until 3:46pm EST, Wednesday late evening (for almost 5 hours), and Saturday very early morning (for 9.5 hours).
Monday (November 28th): the Moon remains in passionate, all-or-nothing Scorpio and VoC until 3:46pm EST. We feel things deeply and have "X-Ray Vision" and "Bullshit-Smelling Abilities" ;-)
Emotional authenticity is extremely important to us at this time; anything less than 100% emotional honesty could be perceived as flat-out dishonest. Once we feel safe trusting someone, we want to merge with them, preferably forever... as long as our trust is never betrayed.
The Moon in Scorpio urges us to uncover our own power. This occurs by a process of subtraction -- it urges us to let go of whatever disempowers us. It's therefore an excellent time to look at "old" fears, limiting habits or emotional attachments, especially those stemming from past traumas.
Moon in Scorpio tends to run right over ambiguity -- it's "in or out", "with us or against us", "love me or leave me". It can therefore be stormy -- a cold winter storm, or a torrid tropical storm of passion, depending on how we "work" the energies :-)
Manipulation and paranoia are the lower vibrations of this aspect, so as best you can, be straightforward -- act in good faith and assume it in others. Best of all, be truly present to the fluctuations of your feelings -- no matter if they're "polite" or "timely". Feelings aren't facts, but they are information -- and heeding them will help you embrace all of who you are.
Know thyself -- and love thyself -- you shall be set free. Remember: Love connects us to the Power within; Fear causes "Force" to show up -- and that's ultimately what disempowers us and others.
Monday at 3:46pm EST, the Moon moves into optimistic, adventurous, truth-seeking Sagittarius, where it will journey until Thursday very early morning. We're strongly motivated to explore and learn. We're not likely to be big fans of routine -- diversity and new adventures work best at this time -- we're also physically restless and need to burn that off with activity and physical exercise.
We tend to feel more open, optimistic and inspired -- but we also have a high degree of independence, which means we'd rather inspire others to do things our way, than take orders. Inspiring others could come easier than normal, as we can see the bigger picture, leaving us confident that others will agree with us, once they see what we see.
As best as you can, speak your truth without assuming that everyone is on the same page as you. Improvisation works well for us at this time, as we are spontaneous and love living on the edge -- just watch out you aren't overdoing or overstating things.
Tuesday (Nov. 29th) is a big day, energetically speaking ;-) The Moon remains inoptimistic, adventurous, truth-seeking Sagittarius all day (see Monday afternoon for details).
Tuesday at 7:18am EST, the New Moon becomes exact, the Moon aligns with the Sun in almost 8 degrees of Sagittarius.
With the New Moon in optimistic, adventurous, truth-seeking Sagittarius, we seek to expand our day-to-day knowledge and look for the larger truth. This is a great time to begin any new projects that require traveling, exploring new territory and the ability to see the bigger picture. Also feel free to watch my New Moon video on the subject
What might I see if I zoomed out and took a wider view? Does my life reflect my philosophy? What fundamental assumptions do I make about others? About life itself? What does my direct experience show me?
As the ruler of Sagittarius, Jupiter features strongly in this New Moon chart. Jupiter currently in Libra makes a square to Pluto and Venus in Capricorn and an opposition to Uranus in Aries. This T-square invites us to focus on our partnerships out there in the world and how they can support us in accomplishing our long-term goals.
We want to expand our experience of harmony, balance and collaborations; we are also asked to focus on long-term goals -- building something that we feel passionate about and that empowers us. The other thing to bear in mind is that aspect is also about taking responsibility for how we connect with others.
We'll need to stay flexible, make adjustments, and find creative solutions when it comes to these very different desires and focuses. If we feel boxed in, we may rebel or act contrary.
This will be even more true within our relationships -- this could bring in some instability or restlessness, perhaps related to our finances or business relationships. As best as you can, don't take things too personally -- and stay as flexible as possible.
All of this means that we are invited to stretch ourselves and step into the unknown. What if something unexpected were around the corner that will change your life for the better? What needs to be eliminated (or changed) so you can move into a better future? What would "courage" do? What if you simply surprised yourself, right here and now?
We are being pulled in many different directions; that said, radical changes on a personal and collective level are quite possible right now. Have the courage to think differently and explore new directions -- go as far as you dare. Flexibility, thinking outside the box, and self-care are critical!
Self-care is quite important in times of stress and change -- making sure that we eat healthily and regularly, are drinking plenty of water, exercising, getting plentiful rest -- and letting in affection from friends, family, or pets.
Without self-care, we will not be able to maintain the pace and meet the demands on us right now. Connecting to what feels familiar/supportive in order to stay grounded and regenerate ourselves, can be very helpful as well.
What or who brings you comfort and a feeling of safety/support? How can you nurture yourself in times of stress/change? What if empowerment in the world came from being in touch with our "feeling-body"? What might we accomplish if we simply asked for what we need?
If nothing else, do your best to roll with the punches while standing in your power. This will also make it easier to empower others -- and remember that true power always comes from standing in a place of love and openness, not fear or righteousness.
We get tremendous support for all this from another aspect: Jupiter's trine to Mars in Aquarius. This makes it easier for us to connect with like-minded people for the next four weeks. Positive attitudes create winning situations; friendly, healthy competition is key.
Positive attitudes also help us to get unstuck and move forward through challenging situations -- and we have plenty of enthusiasm and vision at this time. Use this aspect to tackle the previously impossible ;-)
Neptune (in Pisces) went direct again on Nov. 19th, after a 5-month retrograde phase -- but it's still moving more slowly than normal, and is therefore "exalted". It's squared by the New Moon in Sagittarius; this alsoencourages us to grow and stretch, to resolve seemingly incompatible energies -- this time around intuition and imagination, compassion and creativity. We're also asked to stretch beyond what we see and believe and trust also in divine timing and divine perfection.
The paths we usually take are "given" by our upbringing, society, gender, religious beliefs, cultural background (and all the other sources of "conventional wisdom") -- it all acts together to teach us to see things from a particular perspective. When we take a different turn, we walk a different path -- and we end up at different destinations.
Neptune in Pisces asks us to have faith in the infinite support we receive every day from the universe — whether our mind understands it or not (what we understand with the mind is very different from what we comprehend with the heart).
Seeing through the illusion of separation from the divine is perhaps the greatest perspective shift of all. What might be possible if we allowed ourselves to glance past our filters and glimpse the truth of who we are?
I want to invite you to close your eyes for a moment. Just for this very moment, do your best to not go into memories, or guesses about possible futures. Let your thinking mind settle down a little. As memory and concepts quieten down, can you sense a little more spaciousness? Check directly with your own direct experience: can you actually find where you end and where that space begins?
As you may know, I use the Sedona Method a lot in my coaching. This is an amazing tool for exploring who you really are, as opposed to the conditioned self we usually identify with.
Two days after the New Moon becomes exact, Chiron also changes directions. As always, the "Wounded Healer" brings a heightened awareness of what remains to be healed.
If we get triggered, we can look to see where in the past the trigger originated; then heal via the unconditional love and self-acceptance of the spirit-human alliance.
With Chiron going direct again, we'll find it easier to make peace with our past, and the choices we made on a Soul level -- in general, we can more easily access the great healing power of forgiveness. What emotional or spiritual "sore spots" could you acknowledge? Might a little compassion work where "should" have not?
For those of you who want to have a better understanding of your personal healing journey, feel free to get the recording of my recent Chiron-workshop: "Healing with Astrology" Click here for more info
The Sun and Moon in Sagittarius square the Moon Nodes in Virgo/Pisces, asking us to share our worldview -- this feedback will help us see if we are on the right track. The most valuable resource for "new truths" that move us past preconceived ideas is our direct experience, incorporating this feedback wherever it will act as a "nutrient", not as a "toxin".
If this New Moon had a core message, it would be: Be open to shifting your perceptions.
What might change if I went from blame- and guilt-thinking to compassion and self-acceptance-thinking? Where have I made assumptions? Which one of my "filters" could I do without for a while, just as an exercise in freedom? What do I believe -- and what do I simply “know”? Again, feel free to watch my New Moon video on the subject
If I had to boil all of this down to a single message for the next four weeks, it would be this: As best as you can, provide yourself with compassion and understanding -- embrace your humanity in all its extraordinary capabilities and in its healing. And here's a last question...
Ask yourself: Am I? In other words, do I exist, right here, right now? And, just for now, could I let that be enough? Repeat this a few times with your eyes closed -- I've found it an enormous help for letting the mind quieten down, and for simple "knowing" to shine through.
Do you have your Ascendant (or any personal planets) in one of the following placements: 6-10 degrees of Sagittarius, Gemini, Virgo, Pisces? If so, you may feel the effects of this New Moon more strongly. This is also true for those of us who have our Ascendant or Sun-sign in Leo or Cancer (the Sun rules Leo; the Moon rules Cancer).
The New Moon is also the best time to set some powerful intentions for this month's Moon cycle. Intentions are best done soon after the New Moon becomes exact -- and definitely not during a Moon void of course phase. So this month, the best time to set intentions would be any time between 7:18am EST Tuesday morning until 11:08pm EST Wednesday late evening; and then again from 3:52am EST on Thursday very early morning for another 3.5 hours, until 7:18am EST.
Tuesday late morning, an opportune Venus/Chiron aspect becomes exact at 10:14am EST. We started to feel this aspect from Sunday evening on; it will be strong until Thursday. It's an opportunity to bring healing to our wounds around relationships or our sense of self-worth.
We get a chance to love ourselves and heal deep fears of not being "good enough". Healing happens much faster when we can open to forgiving ourselves and others. As best as you can, bring compassion and understanding to yourself, to others, and to those past experiences that wounded you.
Do you have your Ascendant, Career Point (or personal planets) in 18-23 degrees of Capricorn, Pisces, Scorpio or Taurus? If so, you will be more aware of this opportunity. This is also true for those of us who have our Ascendant or Sun-sign in Taurus or Libra (Venus is the ruler of Taurus and Libra)
Tuesday afternoon, a challenging Venus/Uranus aspect becomes exact at 3:20pm EST. We started feeling this aspect from Sunday evening on; it will be strong until Friday. This "stretch aspect" asks us to grow beyond what we know and have experienced in the past in regards to our relationships, especially family relations.
Priorities may shift, bringing uneasiness around others -- for example, we may experience differences of taste or values within business partnerships.
We may also struggle with freedom versus material safety -- the latter could be manifesting as fears around financial goals -- and in fact, it's best to look long and hard before you leap into any financial decisions during this aspect.
In general, expect the unexpected: Things may take a different turn when it comes to the truly important. Keep your mind and heart open: if something demands elimination or change, it was waiting for that shift to happen anyway. As best as you can, find creative solutions and stay flexible and adaptable. This is not the best time to take things too personally (is there ever a good time for that? :-)
Do you have your Ascendent, Career Point (or any personal planets) in 18-24 degrees of Capricorn, Aries, Cancer or Libra? If so, you may be more affected by this aspect. The same is true for those with their Ascendant or Sun-sign in Taurus, Libra or Aquarius (Venus is the ruler of Taurus and Libra; Uranus rules Aquarius)
Wednesday (Nov. 30th): the Moon remains inoptimistic, adventurous, truth-seeking Sagittarius all day (see Monday afternoon for details).
If you haven't set your New Moon Intentions yet, today (Wednesday) until 11:08pm EST is a great time to do so... If you'd like some input on how to do that, check out this article: http://goo.gl/klCcph -- you could also (re-)watch my New Moon video
Wednesday evening, a challenging Sun/Neptune aspect becomes exact at 8:17pm EST. We started feeling this aspect from last Sunday on; it will be strong until this Saturday. This aspect asks us to stretch and grow: On the one hand we want to use our mind to feel confident and centered, on the other hand, we are compelled to listen to our intuition and let our imagination go wild.
As you can probably guess, we'll experience more "flow" in areas that favor intuition and imagination, such as creativity or spirituality. If possible, hold off on plans for more "practical" things.
We might feel confused; but we are being asked to have faith in the infinite support we receive every day from the universe — whether our mind understands it or not (what we understand with the mind is very different from what we comprehend with the heart).
Seeing through the illusion of separation from the divine is perhaps the greatest perspective shift of all. What might be possible if we allowed ourselves to shift from our conditioning to feeling into the truth of who we are?
Do you have your Ascendant, Career Point (or personal planets) in the following placements: 6-12 degrees of Sagittarius, Pisces, Gemini or Virgo? If so, you are more affected by this aspect. This is also true for those of us who have our Ascendant or Sun-sign in Leo or Pisces (the Sun rules Leo, Neptune rules Pisces).
Also on Wednesday evening, the Sun squares the degree of the Sept. 1st Solar Eclipse. We are at a turning point. Our direct experience is our most valuable resource, especially if we allow ourselves to take in helpful feedback. How has your perception of yourself, others, and life shifted since Sept. 1st?
Wednesday at 11:08pm EST, we enter a Moon void of course (VoC). that lasts for almost 5 hours, until 3:52am EST (Thursday very early morning). If you are awake during this intuitive time, use it to communicate what’s of value to you and for nurturing your adventurous spirit.
As always with a Moon VoC, as best as you can, don't start anything brand-new, stick to routine things, or simply go with the flow. You may also want to plan Wednesday night ahead of time ;-)
Thursday (Dec. 1st) at 3:52am EST, the Moon moves into practical, accomplishment-oriented Capricorn, where it will journey until Saturday afternoon. We tend to be more realistic, serious, cautious; this can support practical endeavors and financial matters.
Our ambition surges and brings with it a need for structure and planning; when you add in the pragmatism this aspect supports, you can see how this could be a very productive time for business and long-term goals. Our reputation becomes very important to us.
As best as you can during this aspect, avoid "should-ing" on yourself. Take the pressure off, perhaps by saying "I am doing the best I can and that's all I can ever do" ;-)
Saturn is the ruler of Capricorn; it's transiting through Sagittarius right now, making this a great time to explore limiting beliefs and bust through conditioned thought structures. It's also a great time to take a more serious look at the "meaning of life".
As best as you can, be authentic about your beliefs: Do they actually match your direct experience of life -- as it is for you now, rather than 5 or 10 years ago? What is true as of now? What is not?
Also: if you haven't set your New Moon Intentions yet, today (Thursday) from 3:52am - 7:18am EST is still time to do so during the most potent time... If you'd like some input on how to do that, check out this article: http://goo.gl/klCcph -- you could also (re-)watch my New Moon video
Thursday at 4:53am EST, after a 5-month retrograde, Chiron comes to a halt (in order to turn direct) in almost 21 degrees of Pisces. As you may recall from last week's post, Chiron is the wounded healer; in Pisces, it brings our attention towards our emotional and spiritual wounds. Watch out for any triggers that are connected to your past.
We have been connecting internally to our healing process for the last five months; as Chiron picks up speed, we become ready to bring that healing (and the healing process) to the outside world. What did you discover about your emotional and spiritual wounds? How could others benefit from your discoveries?
Some of us will feel the effects of this station more than others: Do you have your Ascendent, your Career point or any of your personal planets in 18-23 degrees of Pisces, Gemini, Virgo or Sagittarius? If you do, you may need to take your emotional or spiritual wounds under the magnifying glass. Take a closer look at how you can bring compassion and understanding to those wounds/insecurities.
Thursday late evening, a harmonious Mars/Jupiter aspect becomes exact at 10:46pm EST. We started feeling this aspect from last Sunday on; it will be strong until next week Tuesday. This aspect brings optimism, enthusiasm and expansion to our relationships and collaborations, especially with like-minded people. It's also a good time for bold, decisive action, that leads on very directly to success in business (especially during negotiation and contract phases).
Our positive attitude helps us to take risks that get us unstuck, and we have the vigor to blast through challenges; use this aspect to tackle anything that seemed impossible in the past ;-)
Do you have your Ascendant, Career Point (or personal planets) in 14-20 degrees of Aquarius, Libra, or Gemini? If so, you will feel this aspect quite strongly. This is also true for those of us who have our Ascendant or Sun-sign in Aries or Sagittarius (Mars is the ruler of Aries, Jupiter of Sagittarius).
Also on Thursday, Mercury enters a 3-week shadow phase as it reaches 28 degrees of Sagittarius. This precedes the retrograde phase, which will begin on December 19th in 15 degrees of Capricorn (more on that in 3 weeks). So what is the "shadow phase"? To explain this, I'll quickly cover what happens when a planet "stations" and then goes "retrograde".
Relative to us on Earth, a planet sometimes looks like it is slowing down ("stationing"), then stopping. After being still for a while, it actually appears to go "backward" through the sky (this is the "retrograde" phase). It's a little like catching up to a car on the highway, driving exactly alongside it for a moment, then passing it and pulling ahead.
At first, retrograde movement is slow, but the planet gradually reaches its normal pace through the sky -- except it's going backward. The process then reverses itself: the backward pace slows, the planet crawls to a "halt", then it starts to move forward again (i.e. it goes direct). In our car analogy, it's like the car you just passed gradually speeds up and passes you again.
There are also two "shadow" phases -- during these, the planet travels over a part of the sky it will later "revisit". The first "shadow" comes before the planet moves backward; the second comes when the planet starts to catch back up (after going direct).
It's like you went hiking and left something behind at camp. If you went back to get it, you'd have some catching up to do, and would see the same scenery twice or more.
Mercury's shadow phases usually last 2-3 weeks before the Retrograde phase begins and three weeks after it.
If you want to buy, sell or ship big-ticket items -- especially connected to transportation (cars, airline tickets, etc.) or communication devices (phone, computer, iPad, etc.) -- be aware of the shadow periods as well as the retrograde phases. If possible, get these things done before Mercury enters it's shadow or wait until after the shadow phases are over -- that would be Jan. 27th in this case ;-)
Of course, if there is something that must get done during these phases, don't put your whole life on hold, just because Mercury is retrograde or in it's shadow. Sometimes things line up exactly at the right time; as best as you can, trust that it's all "perfect" ;-)
Friday (Dec. 2nd): the Moon remains in practical, accomplishment-oriented Capricorn all day (see Thursday very early morning for details).
Friday at 4:18pm EST, Mercury changes signs from optimistic, adventurous, truth-seeking Sagittarius to practical, accomplishment-oriented, status-oriented Capricorn, where it will journey until Jan. 4th. Due to it's retrograde phase it will re-enter Capricorn on Jan.12th and remain there until Feb. 7th, 2017.
This is a time when our minds like to make concrete plans for the future. A systematic, practical approach to reaching our goals is now favored; we are good at focusing on practical matters and getting down to the essentials.
We do not waste any words at this time -- what we say is truthful and to the point. We see reality very clearly now -- and it might not look as rosy as we thought. As best as you can, use this time to get in touch with what's real in your life -- without going down the "rabbit hole" of pessimistic inadequacy ;-)
Do you have your Ascendant or Sun-sign in Gemini or Virgo? If so, you will be more serious and possible more eager to accomplish concrete goals. Do you have your Ascendent or Sun-sign in Capricorn? If so, you will most likely feel more chatty for the next 3 weeks.
Saturday (Dec. 3rd): the Moon remains in practical, accomplishment-oriented Capricorn until 2:44pm EST (see Thursday very early morning for details).
Saturday at 5:16am EST, we enter a 9.5-hour Moon void of course (VoC). that lasts until 2:44pm EST. Use this intuitive time to make realistic connections to yourself and others. As always with a Moon VoC, as best as you can, don't start anything brand-new, stick to routine things, or simply go with the flow. You may also want to plan the first half of Saturday ahead of time ;-)
Saturday morning, an opportune Mars/Saturn aspect becomes exact at 7:15am EST. We started feeling this aspect from Wednesday on; it will be strong until next week Tuesday. This aspect is an opportunity to have more self-discipline and self-motivation in our lives -- we could find an increased focus on our work and activities, coupled with a sense of purpose.
We have a chance to face life with more purpose and maturity. We tend to be more practical than usual, and our progress in most projects is perhaps slow but steady. This can be a very productive time in our lives. Remember: this is an "opportunity" -- this isn't necessarily handed to us, we have to make the most of it. It's our choice.
Do you have your Ascendant or any personal planets in 16-20 degrees of Aquarius, Sagittarius, Libra or Aries? If so, you may be more aware of this opportunity. This is also true for those of us who have our Ascendant or Sun-sign in Aries or Capricorn (Mars rules Aries; Saturn is the ruler of Capricorn).
Saturday at 2:44pm EST, the Moon moves into freedom-loving, forward-thinking Aquarius, where it will journey until Monday late evening. With this Moon placement, we often feel emotionally detached; when we do connect to our feelings, it's typically from a cerebral, intellectual place. We need a cause or project that resonates -- preferably one where we can connect with like-minded people.
For the next couple of days, we'll tend to be more eccentric or experimental; future-related issues like politics or education call to us now, as do unusual or even esoteric subjects like Astrology, UFOs... indeed anything from outer space. Our scientific approach to things leans on originality and ingenuity; we definitely love being unconventional.
The increased value we place on personal and emotional independence could make us come off as indifferent or cold in one-on-one interactions. That said, we can still be friendly and kind, provided we aren't pushed into doing something conventional or unethical.
Sunday (Dec. 4th): the Moon remains in freedom-loving, forward-thinking Aquarius all day (see Saturday afternoon for details).
An opportune long-term aspect between Jupiter and Saturn intensifies today (Sunday) and will be within two degrees until February 5th, 2017 (we started to feel it building on Nov. 16th).
This aspect gives us the opportunity to test the balance between our desire for growth and expansion, versus our awareness of our personal limitations; our expectations and outlook become considerably more realistic now, as we naturally seek balance between being too negative and overeager.
It’s also a strong time for realigning our projects and getting our life priorities straightened out. We concern ourselves with the long-term and make practical preparations for a better future.
Look to see where in your life you're seeking expansion or personal growth during this aspect. How might you approach it from a realistic place? What if you took it in stride? What if you were present to it every step of the way?
Do you have your Ascendant, Career Point (or personal planets) in the following: 13-26 degrees of Libra, Sagittarius, Leo, or Aquarius? If so, you will feel this aspect quite strongly. This is also true for those of us who have our Ascendant or Sun-sign in Sagittarius or Capricorn, since Jupiter rules Sagittarius and Saturn rules Capricorn.
Also on Sunday, if you set intentions on Tuesday or Wednesday, after the New Moon became exact, todaywill be the best time to take relevant actions. If you wrote your intentions down, go back and take another look at what came through intuitively. If you didn’t write anything down, get quiet for a moment and check in with yourself: What actions are calling to you?
A head's up for next Monday (Dec. 5th): the Moon remains in freedom-loving, forward-thinking Aquarius until 11:31pm EST (see Saturday afternoon for details). At 6:23am EST, we enter a Moon void of course (VoC). that last for a little over 17 hours, until 11:31pm EST. More about all the details in next week’s forecast ;-)
