Connecting from Our Compassionate Heart -- Astrology Forecast for Mon., Jan. 2nd - Sun., Jan. 8th, 2017

Please note that all times given below are Eastern Standard Time -- to change the listed times to your own timezone, I recommend clicking here for the time and date converter

Last week was an interesting mix of harsh-and-healing for me. Flexibility, inner awareness, and tremendous amounts of self-compassion were key.

Reflecting back on 2016, this year was definitely one of healing and going within, tapping into feminine energies more fully and releasing victim-thinking and -behaving. Lots of "old" structures (thinking and other) needed to be released.

Looking forward at 2017, we are invited to continue our inward journeys, embracing our divine feminine, allowing ourselves to stand in our power (from a place of openness, not fear), and taking responsibility every day for our impact in the world.

For those of you who want to feel empowered throughout 2017, and have solid, continuous support all year long, take advantage of my Monthly Forecasting Forum Package Deal (and save $60). FYI, this package is only available until Jan. 12th.

This week's headline items: Venus changes signs from Aquarius to Pisces; Mercury re-enters Sagittarius and stations, preparing to go direct again. The first Quarter Moon in Aries becomes exact; the Uranus Station ends; Mercury comes to a halt, starts its direct motion and begins its 19-day shadow phase.

There will also be four Moon VoC phases this week: Monday very early morning (for 2 hours), Wednesday late morning (for 6 minutes), Friday afternoon (for a little over 1.5 hours), and Saturday late evening (for a little over 19.5 hours).

Monday (January 2nd) at 2:47am EST, we enter a 2-hour Moon void of course (VoC).. This is an intuitive time that presents an opportunity to connect to innovative ideas and unique world-views -- so if you can, connect with like-minded people and explore something new. As always with a Moon VoC, as best as you can, don't start anything brand-new, stick to routine things, or simply go with the flow.

Monday at 4:57am EST, the Moon moves into creative, sensitive Pisces, where it will journey until Wednesday late morning. This Moon placement often finds us more sensitive, intuitive, idealistic and imaginative than normal. We also have a greater capacity for compassion, sympathy and affection for all -- but especially for those who suffer or can be regarded as the underdog.

But... that very idealism could also be our downfall at this time: We tend to see the best in everyone and everything, and when reality doesn't match our idyllic vision, we might feel upset and even victimized by those harsh realities. A way out of this is to channel our idealism into spiritual or creative endeavors.

It's also a great time for releasing fears -- especially the ones based on a sense of separation -- and experiencing "oneness". Feelings tend to flow more freely; as best as you can, let them -- in fact, "going with the flow" is the best way to go for the next couple of days.

Tuesday (Jan. 3rd): the Moon remains in creative, sensitive Pisces all day (see Monday early morning for details).

Tuesday early morning, at 2:47am EST, Venus changes signs from freedom-loving, forward-thinking Aquarius to creative, sensitive Pisces, where she will journey until Feb. 3rd. For the next four weeks, we have a chance to connect to other people from our compassionate heart. We may also idealize our relationships a little — we’re feeling quite romantic, and hopeful that our dreams will be fulfilled.

With Venus in Pisces, our love is very accepting -- it comes as close to "unconditional" as humans can get. One way this shows up: We root for the underdog. We prefer feeling things out to planning.

As you can imagine, we may spend our money on things that don’t make “sense” -- but if we heed intuition and allow for money to flow freely, we may discover that the Universe is always taking care of us ;-)

Do you have your Ascendant or Sun-sign in Pisces? If so, beauty and love will enhance your life for the next three-and-a-half weeks. Do you have your Ascendant or Sun-sign in Taurus or Libra? You may feel a strong need for romance or unconditional love -- or dream of the ideal relationship. Your finances and values may undergo the spiritual process of releasing control and trusting more to intuition and the flow of life.

Tuesday afternoon, an opportune Mercury/Venus aspect becomes exact at 2:41pm EST. We started to feel this aspect from Monday on; it will be strong until Wednesday. This aspect gives us the opportunity for more direct and caring connections to others.

Through enhanced communication, we have a chance to clear up any misunderstandings or discomfort from the past. Promises and clarifications may grow from this, particularly in love relationships. It is also an opportune time to make new social contacts. Remember: this is an "opportunity" -- those aren't necessarily handed to us, we have to actively take advantage of them.

Do you have your Ascendant, Career point (or any personal planets) in the following: 0-2 degrees of Capricorn, Pisces, Taurus, Scorpio, or 29 degrees of Sagittarius, Aquarius, Aries or Libra? If so, you may be more aware of this opportunity. This is also true for those of us who have our Ascendant or Sun-sign in Virgo, Gemini, Libra or Taurus (Mercury is the ruler of Gemini and Virgo; Venus is the ruler of Taurus and Libra)

Wednesday (Jan. 4th): the Moon remains in creative, sensitive Pisces until 11:20am EST (see Monday early morning for details).

Mercury journeyed through Sagittarius between Nov. 12th and Dec.2nd.Due to its retrograde phase, it will leavepractical, accomplishment-oriented Capricorn for 8 days today (Wednesday) at 9:17am EST andre-enter optimistic, adventurous Sagittarius, where it will remain until Jan. 12th.

During this time, our mind has the desire to learn about a wide range of topics. We seek out ideals; our thinking is more optimistic and our faith increased. We are more equipped to believe and to persuade. With Jupiter in Libra right now, we are seeking balance and win-win situations when connecting with others.

There will likely be a lot of idealistic talk, and a desire for harmony when sharing and connecting. As best as you can, listen to your thoughts, tossing the ones that are not in alignment with a balanced approach for everyone involved. Expand your thinking by tapping into your inner wisdom and connecting to a broader philosophy.

Do you have your Ascendant or Sun-sign in Gemini or Virgo? If so, you will feel a greater need for expansion -- let's hope it's not your waistline that expands :-) Do you have your Ascendent or Sun-sign in Sagittarius? If so, you will most likely feel more chatty for the next 8 days.

Wednesday at 11:14am EST we enter a very brief Moon void of course (VoC). that lasts until 11:20am EST. Use this intuitive time to take a moment to silence the mind. As always with a Moon VoC, as best as you can, don't start anything brand-new, stick to routine things, or simply go with the flow.

Wednesday at 11:20am EST, the Moon moves into pioneering, fast-paced Aries, where it will journey until Friday afternoon. Life is an adventure, we're more open to new ideas, and have great enthusiasm for new projects. Patience is certainly not our strong suit at this time, but we can decide quickly, and act immediately.

Our independence and dynamism are important to us right now, so we may find it hard to be disciplined or accept advice at this time; in general, our responses to others tend to be more assertive or even aggressive. If you find your foot tapping, try hitting the gym, or finding other ways to burn off the body's excess energy. This Moon placement also starts the build-up towards the first Quarter Moon (exact on Thursday afternoon).

Also on WednesdayMercury starts to slow down again (“stationing”). It’s getting ready to come to a halt, ending its 3-week retrograde phase, on Sunday, Jan. 8th (more on that later…). For the next 10 days (until Jan. 14th), we need to be patient with ourselves and others -- especially if there is a connection with communication or transportation, and their associated technologies. This is not the best time to start anything brand-new, especially if it contains new information that needs to be processed.

We might experience delays or misunderstandings, and things tend to feel "off" or stagnant. It might be a good idea to give yourself some extra time to get ready for travel somewhere -- especially if you intend to use public transportation or drive (For more details on Mercury Shadow Phases and Retrogrades, click here)

Some of us will feel the effects of this station more than others: those of us with Gemini or Virgo as our Sun- or Rising-Sign (Ascendant) -- and those of us with personal planets (or angles) in the following: 27-29 degrees of Sagittarius, Gemini, Virgo, Pisces, or 0-1 degrees of Capricorn, Libra, Cancer or Aries.

Thursday (Jan. 5th): the Moon remains in pioneering, fast-paced Aries all day (see Wednesday late morning for details).

Thursday afternoon, the first Quarter Moon in almost 16 degrees of Aries becomes exact. We started to feel this aspect from the moment the Moon entered Aries on Wednesday late morning. The Moon in pioneering, enthusiastic, fast-paced Aries makes a challenging aspect to the Sun practical, cautious, accomplishment-oriented Capricorn.

We feel compelled to take action. Last week on Dec. 29th, the New Moon in Capricorn was exact: "Seeds" planted then are probably "sprouting" by now -- and making their first real contact with the outside world. This is therefore a time to stretch and grow -- and create some forward momentum. We may feel anxious or unusually busy.

As best as you can, go one breath at a time. Allow for changes, remain flexible (as much as possible), and find creative solutions for your day-to-day interactions with others.

Do you have your Ascendant, Career Point (or personal planets) in any of the following: 14-18 degrees of Aries, Capricorn, Libra or Cancer? If so, you will feel the effects of this first Quarter Moon more strongly than otherwise. This is also true for those of us who have our Ascendant or Sun-sign in Leo or Cancer (the Sun rules Leo; the Moon rules Cancer)

Friday (Jan. 6th): the Moon remains in pioneering, fast-paced Aries until 3:18pm EST (see Wednesday late morning for details).

Friday at 1:41pm EST, we enter a Moon void of course (VoC). that last for a little over 1.5 hours, until 3:18pm EST. Use this intuitive time to make connections to people that can enthusiastically support your projects (and sentiments). As always with a Moon VoC, as best as you can, don't start anything brand-new, stick to routine things, or simply go with the flow.

Friday at 3:18pm EST, the Moon movesinto steady, peaceful Taurus, where it will be until Sunday late afternoon. We love all physical comforts, prefer consistency, and would rather stick with what we know works well. In other words: change is not our favorite thing and "rushing things" goes against our grain. What is our favorite thing right now? It's probably, slowing down and getting in touch with whatever delights our senses ;-)

Saturday (Jan. 7th): the Moon remains in steady, peaceful Taurus all day (see Friday afternoon for details).

Friday night/Saturday very early morning, a Sun/Pluto alignment in 17 degrees of Capricorn becomes exact at 1:45am EST. We started to feel this aspect from Tuesday night on; it will be strong until next week Monday night. This alignment asks of us that we reclaim our authority and make some fundamental changes in our world.

Some of the structures that we built in the past may no longer be solid; they must fall now, to be replaced with something that empowers us. It is necessary to redefine feminine and masculine “powers”. What do you need to acknowledge or embrace? What is rejected or ignored? If you truly had choice in the matter, what kind of future would you want to step into?

Do you have your Ascendent, Career Point (or any personal planets) in 14-20 degrees of Capricorn, Cancer, Aries or Libra? If so, you may be more affected by this alignment. This is also true for those of us who have our Ascendant or Sun-sign in Leo or Scorpio (the Sun is the ruler of Leo; Pluto rules Scorpio)

Saturday evening at 9:23pm EST, we enter a Moon void of course (VoC). that last for a little over 19.5 hours, until 5:06pm EST (Sunday late afternoon). This is an intuitive time; use it to bring awareness to your long-term goals and make realistic financial plans.

As always with a Moon VoC, as best as you can, don't start anything brand-new, stick to routine things, or simply go with the flow. You may also want to plan Saturday evening and Sunday day ahead of time ;-)

Sunday (Jan. 8th): the Moon remains in steady, peaceful Taurus until 5:06pm EST (see Friday afternoon for details).

Sunday at 4:43am EST, Mercury comes to a halt in almost 29 degrees of Sagittarius, and slowly starts its direct motionafter its 3-week retrograde phase. As best as you can, go with the flow, keep an open mind and pay attention to anything that is in your face right now -- you may need to address those issues again, when Mercury moves through its shadow phase…more on that later.

We are slowly ready to shift our focus back towards the outer world again, taking in new information and sharing from a new perspective. What did you learn about your mental structures over the past 3 weeks? How might you share your findings in a healthy way with others? What needs to be addressed with regards to business or long-term goals?

When Mercury gets back to its regular speed (by Jan. 14th), communication and transportation will get back to normal; the same is true of any associated gadgets, vehicles, etc.

As you may recall, I mentioned Mercury shadow phases in this update a few weeks back: If you want to buy, sell or ship big-ticket items, it's best to avoid the periods shortly before and after Mercury goes retrograde. This is especially true if the items are connected to transportation (cars, plane tickets, etc.) or communication (phone, computer, iPad, etc.) This particular shadow phase ends on Jan. 27thClick here to read my blog on the subject.

Sunday at 5:06pm EST, the Moon moves into chatty, versatile Gemini, where it will be until Tuesday afternoon. For the next two days, we like to learn, connect and interact as much as possible. "Busy" feels good: connecting online, on the phone, or sharing face-to-face, preferably multi-tasking all the way...

The one thing we can do without is boredom: If our mind is not engaged in some way, we might as well curl up and play dead :-) Since Mercury is coming to a halt today as well, we might have some challenges connecting and communicating with others. As best as you can, be patient with yourself and others.

Also on Sunday, Uranus resumes its normal pace through the sky, ending its station. What has come up in the last four weeks around radical change, personal freedom, and needing to individuate? How closely are you in touch with your personal vision for life?

A head's up for next Monday (Jan. 9th): Moon remains in chatty, versatile Gemini all day (see Sunday late afternoon for details). With Mercury stationing and coming to a halt yesterday (Sunday); it's therefore best to go with the flow, as much as possible. This is especially true for the next couple of days. Also allow extra time for travel (both local and long-distance).More about all the details in next week’s forecast ;-)

Hi Sonja, thanks for the weekly update ;0) I have been really feeling that Sun/Pluto alignment in Capricorn! Especially around the removal of any imbalance between my inner masculine and feminine. It's been intense, but so worth the healing :0)
