Last week was magical and intense at the same time. All that Pisces energy we had until Friday night made it easier to lean in and trust the flow of things.
There was also that Saturn Square to Chiron, to Mars and later to Venus -- this definitely upped the ante -- it also created moments of frustration and feelings of separation… Focusing on self-responsibility (and not taking anything personally) was a big help.
This week's headline items: Venus enters her shadow phase on Monday, as she reaches 27º of Pisces. On Wednesday, it's time to take actions on our New Moon Intentions. Venus changes signs from Pisces to Aries late Friday morning — and late in the evening, the first Quarter Moon in Taurus becomes exact. Finally, on Sunday night/Monday very early morning, Jupiter comes to a halt prior to turning retrograde.
There will also be three Moon VoC phases this week: Tuesday early afternoon (for a little over 4 hours), Thursday late morning (for 9 hours), and Saturday late afternoon (for 6 hours).
Monday (January 30th): the Moon remains in creative, sensitive Pisces all day. It will journey there until Tuesday afternoon. This Moon placement often finds us more sensitive, intuitive, idealistic and imaginative than normal. We also have a greater capacity for compassion, sympathy and affection for all -- but especially for those who suffer or can be regarded as the underdog.
But... that very idealism could also be our downfall at this time: We tend to see the best in everyone and everything, and when reality doesn't match our idyllic vision, we might feel upset and even victimized by those harsh realities. A way out of this is to channel our idealism into spiritual or creative endeavors.
It's also a great time for releasing fears -- especially the ones based on a sense of separation -- and experiencing "oneness". Feelings tend to flow more freely; as best as you can, let them -- in fact, "going with the flow" is the best way to go for the next couple of days.
Also starting Monday: Venus reaches 27 degrees of Pisces, marking the beginning of her pre-retrograde shadow phase.
During a “retrograde”, a planet appears to reverse its normal direction through the sky. Astrologers refer to the period immediately before and after a planet’s retrograde phase as the “shadow phases”; at these times, the planet travels through the degrees of a sign that it will later revisit during the Retrograde phase.
Venus is usually in its shadow for about four weeks prior to a retrograde, and for almost five weeks after.
This is a chance to reassess our values, relationships and finances, so look carefully at whatever shows up within those areas of your life during the shadow phases -- you will get a chance to readdress those issues during the Venus retrograde (March-April).
Tuesday (Jan. 31st): the Moon remains in creative, sensitive Pisces until 4:46pm EST (see Monday for details).
Tuesday at 12:36pm EST, we enter a Moon void of course (VoC) that last for a little over 4 hours, until 4:46pm EST. If at all possible, treat yourself to a nice, intuitive, creative, slow afternoon.
As always with a Moon VoC, as best as you can, don't start anything brand-new, stick to routine things, or simply go with the flow. If you are not able to slow your schedule down, I recommend you at least plan this part of it ahead of time ;-)
Tuesday at 4:46pm EST, the Moon moves into pioneering, fast-paced Aries, where it will journey until Thursday evening. Life is an adventure, we're more open to new ideas, and have great enthusiasm for new projects. Patience is certainly not our strong suit at this time, but we can decide quickly, and act immediately.
Our independence and dynamism are important to us right now, so we may find it hard to be disciplined or accept advice at this time; in general, our responses to others tend to be more assertive or even aggressive. If you find your foot tapping, try hitting the gym, or finding other ways to burn off the body's excess energy.
Tuesday late evening, a challenging Mercury/Uranus aspect becomes exact at 10:32pm EST. We started to feel this aspect from Sunday on; it will be strong until Friday. This aspect creates some tension in our lives: We may feel anxious or stressed by a situation or an interaction with business, or something to do with our career or long-term goals.
We'll likely want to think outside the box. We may also want to bring some changes to a life situation or long-term goal that no longer fits. Again: We are being called to play a bigger game and may feel overwhelmed by what it all means.
Our minds may prefer things to be “squared away”, traditional or established, yet at the same time be possessed by a great urge for progress and breakthroughs — and this could leave us feeling irritable — the best way to manage this is to channel some of that nervous, irritable energy into constructive pursuits.
Since there's a tendency right now to challenge established thought, or play devil's advocate, it also helps to get in touch with our inner truth. Use breath to turn any fear into excitement -- and let yourself drop into your heart.
Expect the unexpected, plan on disruption, revelation and breakthroughs -- during this transit, the best mind is an open mind. As best as you can, go with the flow, staying open to the new and unexpectedly different. Could you allow whatever is happening to stimulate new approaches?
As you can perhaps imagine, this is not a time to make major decisions, especially if they are hasty ;-) You can think of this as "reorganizing" time for the mind, like moving your furniture around. If you feel yourself resisting the reshuffle, do your best to relax -- and maybe even sit back and enjoy the show.
And as always, if all else fails, take it one moment at a time... Rather than jumping to conclusions, get grounded in the here and now — bringing awareness to your breath (or body) is a good way to do this.
Do you have your Ascendant, Career Point (or personal planets) in 18-24 degrees of Capricorn, Aries, Cancer or Libra? If so, you will be more affected by this aspect. This is also true for those of us who have our Ascendant or Sun-sign in Gemini, Virgo or Aquarius (Mercury is the ruler of Gemini and Virgo; Uranus rules Aquarius)
Wednesday (February 1st): the Moon remains in pioneering, fast-paced Aries all day (see Tuesday afternoon for details).
Wednesday late evening, an opportune Mercury/Chiron aspect becomes exact at 9:30pm EST. We have been feeling this aspect build from last Tuesday on; it will be strong until this Friday. We have an opportunity to bring healing energy to our concrete mind and to our thoughts. We also have a chance to heal insecurities in our verbal, in-person, or email interactions.
We are better able now to tune out that automatic/critical inner voice, in favor of more loving and compassionate structures for thinking and communicating. By bringing love and understanding to our thinking processes, we have a chance to move beyond entrenched habits, like "pushing ourselves" or dreaming up catastrophic futures.
Here’s a few good “chew toys” for your mind at this time: What was your family's attitude towards career? Long-term goals in general? What if you tried a gentler approach for a bit? Does your inner dialog really have to repeat what they said when you were 3 years old? What if you used a gentler voice for the next ten minutes or so?
For those of you who want to have a better understanding of your personal healing journey, feel free to get the recording of my recent Chiron-workshop: "Healing with Astrology" Click here for more info
Do you have your Ascendent, Career Point (or any personal planets) in 20-25 degrees of Capricorn, Pisces, Taurus or Scorpio? If so, you may be more aware of this opportunity. This is also true for those of us who have our Ascendant or Sun-sign in Gemini or Virgo (Mercury is the ruler of Gemini and Virgo).
Also on Wednesday all day, if you set Intentions last week Friday, Saturday or Sunday, after the New Moon became exact, today will be the best time to take relevant actions. If you wrote your intentions down, go back and take another look at what came through intuitively. If you didn’t write anything down, get quiet for a moment and check in with yourself: What actions are calling to me?
Thursday (Feb. 2nd): the Moon remains in pioneering, fast-paced Aries until 8:50pm EST (see Tuesday afternoon for details).
Thursday at 11:50am EST, we enter a 9-hour Moon void of course (VoC). that lasts until 8:50pm EST. Use this intuitive time to connect, to meet your need for newness, and for going after your goals in a mature and disciplined way. As always with a Moon VoC, as best as you can, don't start anything brand-new, stick to routine things, or simply go with the flow. You may also want to plan the second half of Thursday ahead of time.
Thursday at 8:50pm EST, the Moon moves into steady, peaceful Taurus, where it will be until Saturday late evening. We love all physical comforts, prefer consistency, and would rather stick with what we know works well. In other words: change is not our favorite thing and "rushing things" goes against our grain.
What is our favorite thing for the next two days? It's probably, slowing down and getting in touch with whatever delights our senses ;-) This Moon placement also starts the build-up towards the first Quarter Moon (exact on Friday late evening).
On another note, I would also like to mention the upcoming Lunar and Solar Eclipse. An Eclipse is a consciousness upgrade. For 7 - 10 days before and after an Eclipse, we are usually in uncharted territory: anything is possible and it's wise to expect the unexpected. The upcoming Lunar Eclipse in Leo will be exact, next week Friday, Feb. 10th (feel free to watch my video on the subject — will be posted by Friday evening of this week).
Anything brand-new (and I really mean brand, brand-new) started during this time will likely not pan out the way we thought it would, often because important information comes to light only after Eclipse season is over. If possible, try to defer any major brand-new projects until after March 12th, when this Eclipse season is over. If something is beginning or ending in a way that seems organic… allow it to be.
Another Eclipse-related phenomenon: not only do Eclipses bring up uncertainty in us, they might also leave us nervous, anxious, unsettled and disoriented. As best as you can, observe your feelings and stay grounded in the "here and now". If you feel rushed into something, take a deep breath and connect to your heart, intuition and inner wisdom: They will carry you through.
Just like upgrading a computer, you will get all the information you need, as soon as the upgrade is complete -- so as best you can, be patient. This does not mean that we need to drop everything; it just means it's wise to check in with our higher guidance -- do this whichever way feels right to you ;-) Remember: it's temporary.
I will also talk about the upcoming Eclipses in more detail in my next Forecasting Forum on Saturday, Feb. 11th at 2pm EST/7pm GMT (London-time). If you want to know how the Eclipses are going to impact you personally, feel free to join us -- we will apply what's coming up, to our own birth charts. For more info or to register, click here
Friday (Feb. 3rd): the Moon remains in steady, peaceful Taurus all day (see Thursday evening for details).
Friday late morning, at 10:51am EST, Venus changes signs from intuitive, creative, dreamy Pisces to fast-paced, enthusiastic, active Aries, where it will journey until April 2nd. Due to the upcoming Venus Retrograde phase it will re-enter Aries on April 28th and leave this fiery sign for good on June 6th.
For those time periods, we are going to feel passionate about connecting to others. We are ready to make a new start: if you are single, this could be a great chance to start something new (all things being equal ;-) With Venus in Aries, spontaneity and independence are important to us. You’re not the only one who likes a challenge, so don't make it too easy for others to win you over ;-)
If you are already in a committed relationship, you get a wonderful chance to bring freshness and excitement to your bedroom and "other parts of the house" ;-) We also have more energy than usual; we are more likely to want to get out of the house, and be active with others.
All this is especially true if you are a Taurus, Libra or Aries Sun-sign or Rising-sign. As an Aries, beauty and love will enter your life during this time, you will feel more attractive and you will attract things to you. As a Taurus or Libra, you will feel more energized, passionate and more direct than usual.
Friday late evening, at 11:19pm EST, the first Quarter Moon in 15.5 degrees of Taurus becomes exact. We started to feel this aspect from the moment the Moon entered Taurus on Thursday evening. The Moon, in steady, peaceful, comfort-oriented Taurus, makes a challenging aspect to the Sun in freedom-loving, forward-thinking, rebellious Aquarius.
We feel compelled to take action. Last week on Jan. 27th, the New Moon in Aquarius was exact: "Seeds" planted then are probably "sprouting" by now -- and making their first real contact with the outside world. This is therefore a time to stretch and grow -- and create some forward momentum. We may feel anxious or unusually busy.
As best as you can, go one breath at a time. Allow for changes, remain flexible (as much as possible), and find creative solutions for your day-to-day interactions with others.
Do you have your Ascendant, Career Point (or personal planets) in any of the following: 13-18 degrees of Taurus, Aquarius, Leo or Scorpio? If so, you will feel the effects of this first Quarter Moon more strongly than otherwise. This is also true for those of us who have our Ascendant or Sun-sign in Leo or Cancer (the Sun rules Leo; the Moon rules Cancer).
Saturday (Feb. 4th): the Moon remains in steady, peaceful Taurus until 11:44pm EST (see Thursday evening for details).
For the 6 hours between 5:42pm EST, and 11:44pm EST Saturday, the Moon is void of course (VoC). This is an intuitive time; use it to think about long-term goals and realistic financial plans.
As always with a Moon VoC, as best as you can, don't start anything brand-new, stick to routine things, or simply go with the flow. You may also want to plan Saturday evening ahead of time ;-)
Saturday at 11:44pm EST, the Moon moves into chatty, versatile Gemini, where it will be until Monday night/Tuesday very early morning. For the next two days, we like to learn, connect and interact as much as possible.
"Busy" feels good: connecting online, on the phone, or sharing face-to-face, preferably multi-tasking all the way...The one thing we can do without is boredom: If our mind is not engaged in some way, we might as well curl up and play dead :-)
Sunday (Feb. 5th): Moon remains in chatty, versatile Gemini all day (see Saturday late evening for details).
Sunday morning brings an opportunity for moving things forward -- it’s a great time to connect with others and get some projects moving (or launched).
Please note that Jupiter will come to halt tonight (Sunday night/Monday very early morning, EST). This may dent our optimism about our relationships, especially for the next three days (Sunday included), or perhaps just leave things feeling a little stagnant.
I will cover this in more detail in next Monday's forecast, for now, just be aware that if you have a Sagittarius Sun-sign, Rising-sign or Moon sign, you will be more affected by this planet's movements.
A head's up for next Monday (Feb. 6th): Moon remains in chatty, versatile Gemini all day (see Saturday late evening for details). At 1:52am EST, Jupiter comes to a halt, starting it's yearly 4-month retrograde phase in 23 degrees of Libra. At 5:53pm EST, we enter a Moon void of course (VoC). that lasts for a little over 8 hours, until 2:03am EST (Tuesday very early morning). More about all the details in next week’s forecast ;-)
