The Inter-Relationship Between Light and Dark -- Astrology Forecast for Mon., March 20th - Sun., March 26th, 2017

Please note that all times given below are Eastern Daylight Savings Time -- to change the listed times to your own timezone, I recommend clicking here for the time and date converter

Last week was magical. How nice is it that Eclipse season is finally over? I started to get back to a more balanced schedule -- and I'm always happy about that, given I have a Libra Rising sign and have the Sun and Mercury in the 7th House -- balance seems to be an important theme in my life ;-)

This week's headline items: the Sun changes signs from Pisces to Aries on Monday morning (this also marks the Spring Equinox in the Northern hemisphere). The last Quarter Moon in Capricorn becomes exact (also on Monday), the Balsamic Moon phase begins on Friday evening, Saturn starts to slow down (station) on Sunday. Finally, Mercury enters its shadow phase on Sunday late evening.

There will also be three Moon VoC phases this week: Monday morning (for 5 hours), Wednesday late morning (for 13 hours), and Friday night/Saturday very early morning (for a little over 4 hours).

Monday (March 20th): the Moon remains in optimistic, adventurous, truth-seeking Sagittarius until 11:31am EDT

Monday at 6:29am EDT, the Sun changes signs from dreamy Pisces to fast-paced, enthusiastic Aries, where it will journeyuntil April 19th. This is also the Spring (orVernal) Equinox.

This signifies the beginning of Spring in the Northern hemisphere of this planet, the energetic turning point from one season to the next. Equinoxes are super-potent times for setting intentions. They are energetic gateways, where we experience the inter-relationship between light and dark, inner and outer, spirit and matter.

With the Sun entering Ariesfor the next four weeks, we tend to act first and think later. We are more aware of our personal goals and we feel a strong urge to move forward, get things done, move closer to our goals. We are quite aware of our own gut instincts and where we are heading. It's a great time both for leading others and for carving out our own path.

All this is especially true if you are a Leo or Aries Sun-sign or Rising-sign. As an Aries, you will feel a good dose of confidence and playfulness in the next four weeks; as a Leo you will feel energized and physically strong at this time.

Monday at 6:37am EDT, we enter a 5-hour Moon void of course (VoC). that last until 11:31am EDT. Use this intuitive time to focus on long-term projects that involve a truthful perspective or an adventure into the truth. As always with a Moon VoC, as best as you can, don't start anything brand-new, stick to routine things, or simply go with the flow. You may also want to plan Monday morning ahead of time ;-)

Monday at 11:31am EDT,the Moon moves into practical, accomplishment-oriented Capricorn, where it will journey until Wednesday late morning. We tend to be more realistic, serious, cautious; this can support practical endeavors and financial matters.

Our ambition surges and brings with it a need for structure and planning; when you add in the pragmatism this aspect supports, you can see how this could be a very productive time for business and long-term goals. Our reputation becomes very important to us.

As best as you can during this aspect, avoid "should-ing" on yourself. Take the pressure off, perhaps by saying "I am doing the best I can and that's all I can ever do" ;-)

Saturn is the ruler of Capricorn; it's transiting through Sagittarius right now, making this a great time to explore limiting beliefs and bust through conditioned thought structures -- and those stories we tell ourselves about "what was", rather than what actually "is". It's also a great time to take a more serious look at the "meaning of life".

As best as you can, be authentic about your beliefs: Do they actually match your direct experience of life -- as it is for you now, rather than 5 or 10 years ago? What is true as of now? What is not?

Monday at 11:58am EDT, the last Quarter Moon in 0 degrees of Capricornbecomes exact. The Moon in practical, accomplishment-oriented Capricorn makes a challenging aspect to the Sun in pioneering, fast-paced Aries. This may bring up some challenges. However, it also energizes us to look at what needs to be completed -- and what needs to be changed.

This Moon phase brings us closer to March 27th New Moon in Aries. With the last Quarter Moon, rather than starting major new projects, it serves us to take a look at what needs to be completed. What -- if anything -- needs last-minute adjustments? What did you discover since the beginning of 2017? What did it mean for you?

As best as you can, find creative solutions for anything that comes up (whether internally, or with others).

Do you have your Ascendant, Career Point (or personal planets) in the following: 0-2 degrees of Capricorn, Aries, Libra, Cancer, or 28-29 degrees of Sagittarius, Pisces, GeminiVirgo? If so, you are more affected by this month's last Quarter Moon. This is also true for those of us who have our Ascendant or Sun-sign in Leo or Cancer, since the Sun rules Leo and the Moon rules Cancer.

Tuesday (March 21st): the Moon remains in practical, accomplishment-oriented Capricornall day (see Monday late morning for details).

Tuesday starts out with lots of energy very early in the morning, and brings a strong desire for accomplishment, but we need to adjust and innovate when working with others -- flexibility is key ;-) As the morning goes along, things flow more, and we feel nicely grounded in reality; as best as you can, take practical steps forward on existing projects. By late morning Tuesday, we have high hopes, and an opportunity to bring a good dose of faith and intuition to our quest for success.

Towards Tuesday evening, we need to adjust and innovate again, this time when communicating our personal goals or passions. We may be aware of two seemingly conflicting desires: On the one hand, we have a need for mature, diligent accomplishment.

On the other hand, we also desire rapid progress toward personal goals -- we may want to move a mile a minute, impatiently and enthusiastically hurling ourselves forward into the unknown... Again, flexibility is key ;-)

Wednesday (March 22nd): the Moon remains in practical, accomplishment-oriented Capricornuntil 9:20am EDT (see Monday late morning for details).

Wednesday at 9:20am EDT, we enter a 13-hour Moon void of course (VoC). that lasts until 10:28pm EDT. You may be aware of two seemingly conflicting desires: On the one hand, a need for serious, diligent accomplishment -- and on the other, a desire for enthusiastic and horizon-broadening connection with like-minded people.

Use this intuitive time to make adjustments (and find creative solutions) when it comes to resolving these desires. As always with a Moon VoC, as best as you can, don't start anything brand-new, stick to routine things, or simply go with the flow. You may also want to plan your Wednesday ahead of time ;-)

Wednesday at 10:28pm EDT,the Moon moves into freedom-loving, forward-thinking Aquarius, where it will journey until Saturday morning. With this Moon placement, we often feel emotionally detached; when we do connect to our feelings, it's typically from a cerebral, intellectual place. We need a cause or project that resonates -- preferably one where we can connect with like-minded people.

For the next couple of days, we'll tend to be more eccentric or experimental; future-related issues like politics or education call to us now, as do unusual or even esoteric subjects like Astrology, UFOs... indeed anything from outer space. Our scientific approach to things leans on originality and ingenuity; we definitely love being unconventional.

The increased value we place on personal and emotional independence could make us come off as indifferent or cold in one-on-one interactions. That said, we can still be friendly and kind, provided we aren't pushed into doing something conventional or unethical.

Thursday (March 23rd): the Moon remains in freedom-loving, forward-thinking Aquarius all day (see Wednesday late evening for details).

Thursday evening, a challenging Mercury/Pluto aspect becomes exact at 8:45pm EDT. We started to feel this aspect from Wednesday morning on, it will be strong until Saturday. This aspect creates some tension in our lives. We may feel anxious or stressed by one or more situations or interactions to do with our own personal goals.

We are being invited to grow and make some changes in our lives, particularly in terms of our thinking processes. We are being asked tofind creative solutions and be completely honest with ourselves and others. The best way to achieve this is by the continual practice of self-care and self-nurturing.

We have tremendous focus and drive right now, which can tip into obsession. With this aspect an all-or-nothing attitude is very likely. Choose love over fear whenever possible. Not many people enjoy being second-guessed all the time, yet that is something that we are inclined to do now.

However, our determination to get to the bottom of any matter, to rip away falsehoods and expose true motives, can be used for good if we employ it in our work, for example, in regards to investigations or research. This is an opportunity to learn to harness our intense mental energy and apply it productively. We are also capable of very hard work, focus and effort now.

We have a great love of debate, but should be careful that we don't overpower others with our strong opinions, attempting to "convert" them to our frame of mind, or treat regular exchanges of opinion as battlegrounds. Connect to yourself and others, empowering yourself/them with what you feel passionate about.

Choose your words/thoughts carefully, from a deeply connected and empowered place rather than from a place of fear, self-protection or a need for survival.

Do you have your Ascendant, Career Point (or personal planets) in 16-22 degrees of Aries, Capricorn, Libra or Cancer? If so, you will be more affected by this aspect. This is also true for those of us who have our Ascendant or Sun-sign in Gemini, Virgo or Scorpio (Mercury is the ruler of Gemini and Virgo; Pluto rules Scorpio)

Friday (March 24th): the Moon remains in freedom-loving, forward-thinking Aquarius all day (see Wednesday late evening for details).

Friday morning,a Mercury/Jupiter opposition becomes exact at 8:45am EDT. We started to feel this aspect from Thursday on, it will be strong until Sunday morning; it asks us to find the balance between our own personal passions and collaboration with others.

This could also show up as a need to balance what we *think* we need to go after, versus our desire for expansion in our one-on-one relationships. Of course, we could conceivably have it both ways:

How might collaboration and exploration within my relationships impact my self-connection? Could I share from a place of passion, perhaps just 5% more than normal? If I stepped way back from the canvas, what "bigger picture" would I see?

We generally feel quite optimistic at this time, perhaps overly so: The urge to grow and expand is strong, but we can overreach -- perhaps by overlooking critical details and thereby miscalculating. We might be inclined to exaggerate, then have a hard time putting our ideas and goals into practice. That said, we can also be extraordinarily funny and interesting at this time, especially in our one-on-one relationships :-)

Expect a lot of talking and sharing -- and possibly some over-thinking or impulsive communication. Impatience is likely a side-effect of this aspect as well... As best as you can, take an "observer" position toward your mind: listen to your thoughts, catch yourself thinking.

In other words: as best as you can, practice listening, to yourself, to others, and to your body. Listening is an art form that makes it easier to tap into our own inner wisdom and our body's wisdom.

Do you have your Ascendant, Career Point (or personal planets) in 17-23 degrees of Aries, Libra, Capricorn or Cancer? If so, you will feel this aspect quite strongly. This is also true for those of us who have our Ascendant or Sun-sign in Gemini, Virgo or Sagittarius (Mercury is the ruler of Gemini and Virgo; Jupiter of Sagittarius).

Friday evening, around 7:30pm EDT, the Balsamic Moon phase begins --when the Moon reaches 24 degrees of Aquarius. This lasts until Monday evening, when the New Moon in Aries becomes exact (For those of you who are impatiently waiting for my New Moon video, click here on Friday morning). We are being asked to slow down and get quiet, so we can listen to our intuition.

For some of us, this might be a stretch. As best as you can: stay grounded, take a deep breath and exhale any tensions. Rather than starting something brand-new, put all that energy into completing existing projects or processes. This is also a great time for letting go of whatever no longer serves us. What if you could hear the voice of your inner wisdom? What might it be saying?

Saturday (March 25th): the Moon remains in freedom-loving, forward-thinking Aquarius until 6:06am EDT (see Wednesday late evening for details).

Friday night/Saturday very early morning at 1:56am EDT, we enter a Moon void of course (VoC).that last for a little over 4 hours, until 6:06am EDT. This is an intuitive time that presents an opportunity to connect to innovative ideas and unique world-views in an adult way -- so if you are awake at this time, connect with like-minded people and explore new commitments.

As always with a Moon VoC, as best as you can, don't start anything brand-new, stick to routine things, or simply go with the flow. You may also want to plan Saturday early morning ahead of time ;-)

Saturday at 6:06am EDT, the Moon moves into creative, sensitive Pisces, where it will journey until Monday late morning. This Moon placement often finds us more sensitive, intuitive, idealistic and imaginative than normal. We also have a greater capacity for compassion, sympathy and affection for all -- but especially for those who suffer or can be regarded as the underdog.

But... that very idealism could also be our downfall at this time: We tend to see the best in everyone and everything, and when reality doesn't match our idyllic vision, we might feel upset and even victimized by those harsh realities. A way out of this is to channel our idealism into spiritual or creative endeavors.

It's also a great time for releasing fears -- especially the ones based on a sense of separation -- and experiencing "oneness". Feelings tend to flow more freely; as best as you can, let them -- in fact, "going with the flow" is the best way to go for the next couple of days.

Saturday morning, right after the Moon enters Pisces,a Sun/Venus alignment in 5 degrees of Ariesbecomes exact at 6:17am EDT. We started to feel this aspect from Thursday on, it will be strong until Monday morning. It brings the desire to strike a balance between relationships and personal goals -- and comes with graciousness, charm, and a healthy dose of directness.

As such, this is a good aspect for social affairs, pleasure, amusement, and romance -- especially if these are connected to our own passions. We are impulsive and fast-moving at this time and need to feel a passionate or action-oriented connections with others. Bear in mind, this is also true for the person sitting across the table from you; any negotiations undertaken at this time will likely go smoothly and quickly.

This, taken together with our readiness to take some risks to get what we want, makes it a good time to start out on a new relationship or venture. What do you desire? What is the simplest (or most outrageous) action step that would move you closer to that aim?

Do you have your Ascendent, Career Point (or any personal planets) in the following: 2-7 degrees of Aries, Libra, Capricorn, Cancer? If so, you may be more affected by this aspect. This is also true for those of us who have our Ascendant or Sun-sign in Taurus, Libra or Leo (the Sun rules Leo; Venus rules Taurus and Libra)

Sunday (March 26th): the Moon remains in creative, sensitive Pisces all day (see Saturday morning for details).

Sunday late morning, a Mercury/Uranus alignment in 23 degrees of Ariesbecomes exact at 11:06am EDT. We started to feel this aspect from Friday on, it will be strong until Tuesday.  An important insight is building, something new is preparing to enter consciousness – and we are getting the urge to move forward.

We might experience some really unusual conversations. Our mind could be flooded with new information and ideas, and we most likely feel  enthusiastic and excited by these fresh ideas and insights.

It's a time when we could achieve real breakthroughs in the form of ideas, communications, and the mind in general — but coupled with the possibility of edginess and impatience toward those who don’t “get” our new insights. Nervousness and fidgeting could be a by-product of this alignment as well.

Computers and electronics may suddenly become important. We'll likely have flashes of insight into our own mental workings, original thoughts, etc. As best as you can, and as much as you want to, stay open to other dimensions *and* stay grounded in your body. That way, all that energy can move through you, without shaking you to the core ;-)

Do you have your Ascendant, Career Point (or personal planets) in 20-26 degrees of Aries, Libra, Cancer or Capricorn? If so, you will feel this aspect quite strongly. This is also true for those of us who have our Ascendant or Sun-sign in Gemini, Virgo or Aquarius  (Mercury is the ruler of Gemini and Virgo; Uranus rules Aquarius).

Sunday late evening,Mercury enters a 2-week shadow phase, as it reaches 24 degrees and 17 minutes of Aries. This precedes the retrograde phase, which will begin on April 9th in almost 5 degrees of Taurus (more on that in 3 weeks). So what is the "shadow phase"? To explain this, I'll quickly cover what happens when a planet "stations" and then goes "retrograde".

Relative to us on Earth, a planet sometimes looks like it is slowing down ("stationing"), then stopping. After being still for a while, it actually appears to go "backward" through the sky (this is the "retrograde" phase). It's a little like catching up to a car on the highway, driving exactly alongside it for a moment, then passing it and pulling ahead.

At first, retrograde movement is slow, but the planet gradually reaches its normal pace through the sky -- except it's going backward. The process then reverses itself: the backward pace slows, the planet crawls to a "halt", then it starts to move forward again (i.e. it goes direct). In our car analogy, it's like the car you just passed gradually speeds up and passes you again.

There are also two "shadow" phases -- during these, the planet travels over a part of the sky it will later "revisit". The first "shadow" comes before the planet moves backward; the second comes when the planet starts to catch back up (after going direct).

It's like you went hiking and left something behind at camp. If you went back to get it, you'd have some catching up to do, and would see the same scenery twice or more.

Mercury's shadow phases usually last 2-3 weeks before and after the Retrograde phase.

If you want to buy, sell or ship big-ticket items -- especially connected to transportation (cars, airline tickets, etc.) or communication devices (phone, computer, iPad, etc.) -- be aware of the shadow periods as well as the retrograde phases. If possible, get these things done before Mercury enters it's shadow or wait until after the shadow phases are over -- that would be May 25th in this case ;-)

Of course, if there is something that must get done during these phases, don't put your whole life on hold, just because Mercury is retrograde or in it's shadow. Sometimes things line up exactly at the right time; as best as you can, trust that it's all "perfect" ;-)

Also on Sunday, Saturn slows down (stations) in 27/28 degrees of Sagittarius."Stationing" is when a planet moves more slowly through the sky. When a planet stations, its energy becomes more "exalted"; in the case of Saturn, this means we all feel the need to more fully face what is currently so, our actual reality.

Saturn has to do with doing what needs to be done -- so we can fully understand the practical implications of our reality, and the consequences of our past actions. Saturn also represents our structures, responsibilities, commitments and ability to "do" life, on life's terms.

As spirit beings in a physical world, it's best to observe the laws of the physical world. The sooner we learn to "play by the rules", the easier life gets. Saturn also represents time and the "domain" of time: growing up, maturing, understanding our limitations, setting healthy boundaries with others, living with integrity, being authentic and truthful, being serious and focused on building something of value to society.

Saturn is our teacher. If you had a cosmic teacher, what would your personal "earth class" be in, right now? Where are you being asked to look at your beliefs and became more mature? What calls for a commitment towards a larger truth? What will time do?

As best as you can during the time of the station, bring flexibility and open-mindedness to any frustrations. The station-phase will last until April 14th -- and Saturn will start its 5-month retrograde phase on April 6th… more on that in 11 days ;-)

Do you have your Ascendant, Career Point (or any personal planets) in 25-29 degrees of  Sagittarius, Gemini, Virgo or Pisces? If so, you will be more affected by this station. This is also true for those of us who have our Ascendant or Sun-sign in Capricorn, since Saturn is the ruler of Capricorn.

A head's up for next Monday (March 27th): the Moon remains in creative, sensitive Pisces until 10:11am EDT (see Saturday morning for details). At 6:19am EDT, we enter a 4-hour Moon void of course (VoC).that lasts until 10:11am EDT. At that time, the Moon moves into pioneering, fast-pacedAries, where it will journey until next week Wednesday late morning. In the early afternoon,an opportune Mars/Neptune aspect becomes exact at 12:44pm EDT.And lastly, (the most important part of Monday's forecast) theNew Moon in Aries becomes exact at 10:27pm EDT. More about all the details in next week’s forecast ;-) FYI, I will be posting a video about the New Moon in Aries by March 24th on Youtube and on my website
