Wholesome Approaches -- Astrology Forecast for Mon., Jan. 18th - Sun., Jan. 24th, 2016

Please note that all times given below are Eastern Standard Time -- to change the listed times to your own timezone, I recommend clicking here for the time and date converter

This was me, last week: Work, healing, fun, creativity, serious conversations, making new connections, love and affection, impatience, restlessness, annoyances, feelings of all kinds, resting, self-care, laundry... lots of different activities and experiences... Let's see: did I leave anything out? How was your week?

This week's headline items: the Sun changes signs from Capricorn to Aquarius on Wednesday in the late morning; also on Wednesday, Mercury starts to slow down again (getting ready to move direct again next week); Jupiter aligns with the Moon's North Node on Saturday morning; Venus changes signs from Sagittarius to Capricorn on Saturday afternoon and the Full Moon in Leo becomes exact on Saturday evening.

There will also be four Moon VoC phases this week: Tuesday very early morning (for almost 2.5 hours), Thursday very early morning (for almost 5.5 hours), Saturday very early morning (for 13 hours), and Sunday late evening (for almost 25 hours).

Monday: the Moon remains in steady, peaceful Taurus all dayIt will journey there until Tuesday morning. With the Moon in Taurus, we seek serenity, security, peace, comfort: The Moon is at her most sensual and constant in Taurus.

Our basic impulse is to relax, resist change, get comfortable: Life… slows… down... We may also be stubborn and materialistic under this influence. As best you can, stop and smell the roses during this time -- enjoy life and its offerings ;-)

Monday in the wee morning hours, a challenging Venus/Jupiter aspect becomes exact at 12:10am EST. We started to feel this aspect from last Friday on, it will be strong until this Wednesday. This aspect asks that we question our most fundamental beliefs and conditioning around money and relationships.

We have the opportunity here to grow beyond our understanding of what our values get us. Issues connected to love, relationships, and whatever is most valuable to us, can seem overwhelming at this time. This is because we have a tendency to overindulge or over-promise.

We mean well, because we are feeling quite optimistic at this time -- but we may underestimate how much time we actually have, or how good a fit something actually is. Overspending, overindulging and over-promising could be connected to this aspect as well (as could making assumptions in our relationships); as best as you can, bring a non-judgmental awareness to any such tendencies.

Do you have your Ascendant, Career Point (or personal planets) in 20-26 degrees of Sagittarius, Virgo, Pisces or Gemini? If so, you will feel this aspect quite strongly. This is also true for those of us who have our Ascendant or Sun-sign in Taurus, Libra or Sagittarius (Venus is the ruler of Taurus and Libra; Jupiter is the ruler of Sagittarius).

Monday morninga harmonious Mars/Neptune aspect becomes exact at 6:01am EST. We started to feel this aspect from last Thursday on; it will be strong until this Friday. This aspect brings the ability to endow what we feel passionate about with our creativity -- and connect it to a higher love.

Our animalistic nature is able to connect to compassion and understanding. We can now bring light to all of our inner dark places; through loving ourselves, we can transform that darkness into the gift of feeling powerfully connected to ourselves.

As this aspect is taking place in Scorpio and Pisces, we are connecting to our goals and dreams from an emotional place that is deeply spiritual and transformational. We are able to let go of our fears and attachments and are able to have faith that everything will turn out just as it needs to.

Those of us who have their Ascendent (or personal planets) in 5-11 degrees of Scorpio, Pisces or Cancer will be touched in a particularly beautiful way by this aspect. This is also true for those of us who have our Ascendant or Sun-sign in Aries or Pisces (Mars is the ruler of Aries; Neptune rules Pisces)

Tuesday very early morning, an opportune Mercury/Chiron aspect becomes exact at 1:30am EST. We have been feeling this aspect build from last Saturday on; it will be strong until this Thursday. Due to Mercury’s retrograde, we are experiencing this aspect for the second time within the past 4 weeks; we are invited to look back to the week around Dec. 20th, to see what thoughts and triggers we experienced at that time.

We have an opportunity to bring healing energy to our concrete mind and to our thoughts. We also have a chance to heal insecurities in our verbal, in-person, or email interactions.

We are able to move past harsh criticism of ourselves or others, towards more loving and compassionate structures for thinking and communicating. By bringing love and understanding to our thinking processes, we have a chance to move beyond entrenched habits -- like pushing ourselves really hard, or thinking pessimistically.

What was your family's attitude towards career -- or long-term goals in general? How can you take a gentler approach to your inner dialog now?
Do you have your Ascendent, Career Point (or any personal planets) in 16-20 degrees of Capricorn, Pisces, Taurus or Scorpio? If so, you may be more aware of this opportunity. This is also true for those of us who have our Ascendant or Sun-sign in Gemini or Virgo (Mercury is the ruler of Gemini and Virgo).

Tuesday at 1:50am we enter a Moon void of course (VoC). that lasts almost 2.5-hours, until 4:13am EST. If you are awake at this time, enjoy beauty and nature, or connect with others over a yummy meal. Most of all, though: Keep it real! As with all Moon VoCs, do not start anything brand-new; stick to routine things, or go with the flow... 'cos the flow knows where to go ;-)

Tuesday at 4:13am EST, the Moon moves into chatty, versatile Gemini, where it will journey until Thursday morning. The Gemini Moon keeps us social and busy. Interactions may take place online, on the phone, or face-to-face with those in our immediate environment. With this Moon placement, we like to multitask and stay engaged with life as much as possible: As long as we don't get bored, we're good.

With Mercury retrograde right now, we may need to slow things down a little, tapping into all these interactions from a more intuitive place. Rather than initiating new contacts, consider reconnecting with old friends or former business associates; it’s also probably best to revisit conversations from the past three to four weeks.

Wednesday: the Moon remains in chatty, versatile Gemini all day (see Tuesday early morning for details). With Mercury retrograde right now, we may need to slow things down a little, tapping into all these interactions from a more intuitive place. Rather than initiating new contacts, consider reconnecting with old friends or former business associates; it’s also probably best to revisit conversations from the past three to four weeks.

Wednesday at 10:27am EST, the Sun changes signs from practical, cautious, accomplishment-oriented Capricorn to freedom-loving, forward-thinking and objective Aquarius, where it will journey until Feb. 19th. For the next four weeks, we have advancement and progress in our hearts.

We want to get off the beaten path, leaving behind old and outdated ways of thinking and doing, throwing off personal and social conditioning – those restrictions, limitations and inhibitions that may once have felt safe, but now feel constraining.

Our idealism runs strong, but we can have some fixed ideas about how we want to accomplish these ideals – although we are open to new ideas in theory, in practice we may actually be quite stubborn. Finally, we are also definitely more aware of the impact each individual has on the whole of society.

All this is especially true if you are a Leo or Aquarius Sun-sign or Rising-sign. As an Aquarius, you will feel a good dose of confidence and playfulness in the next four weeks; as a Leo, you are more objective than usual…working towards a vision for the future might be just the thing for you to do.

Wednesday afternoon, a challenging Mercury/Uranus aspect becomes exact at 1:26pm EST. We have been feeling this aspect build from last Sunday on; it will be strong for an unusually long time (until Feb. 4th), due to Mercury's retrograde/station. This aspect is now exact for the second time in the past 30 days. We are again invited to look back to the the week around Dec. 20th, this time to see what thoughts and future insights we experienced at that time.

We'll want to think outside the box, to stretch our thinking. There might be a tendency to act suddenly, without thought or consideration. This aspect could also create some restlessness and unease.

We may feel mental tension, irritation or worry, stemming from a need to rebel or be controversial. Our ideas -- the way we think and communicate -- might feel different or unusual at this time; we may have an urge to break out of obsolete mental patterns.
We could also channel that nervous energy into constructive pursuits. Since we might want to challenge established thought (or play devil's advocate) it helps to get in touch with our inner truth. Take a deep breath every now and again and stay grounded in your body. Turn fear into excitement and drop into your heart… Give your mind the space to re-organize.

We can't expect much of anything during this transit… except the unexpected! Routines and plans will likely face disruption; this could stimulate new approaches. Revelations and breakthroughs are quite likely at this time -- the best mind for dealing with this transit is an open one: As best as you can, go with the flow. Stay open to the new and wonderfully unexpected.

Avoid making major decisions for the time being, especially if they are hasty ;-) You can think of this as "reorganizing" time for the mind, like moving your desk to a new location. Try not to resist the reorganization... Enjoy the ride.

Do you have your Ascendant, Career Point (or personal planets) in 14-20 degrees of Capricorn, Aries, Cancer or Libra? If so, you will be more affected by this aspect. This is also true for those of us who have our Ascendant or Sun-sign in Gemini, Virgo or Aquarius (Mercury is the ruler of Gemini and Virgo; Uranus rules Aquarius)

Lastly, also on Wednesday, Mercury starts to slow down again (“stationing”). It’s getting ready to come to a halt, ending its 3-week retrograde phase, on Monday of next week, Jan. 25th (more on that next week…). For the next 13 days (until Jan 29th), we need to be patient with ourselves and others -- especially if there is a connection with communication or transportation, and their associated technologies. This is not the best time to start anything brand-new, especially if it contains new information that needs to be processed.

We might experience delays or misunderstandings, and things tend to feel "off" or stagnant. It might be a good idea to give yourself some extra time to get ready for travel somewhere -- especially if you intend to use public transportation or drive (For more details on Mercury Shadow Phases and Retrogrades, click here)

Some of us will feel the effects of this station more than others: those of us with Gemini or Virgo as our Sun- or Rising-Sign (Ascendant) -- and those of us with personal planets (or angles) in 13-17 degrees of Capricorn, Cancer, Aries or Libra.

Thursday: the Moon remains in chatty, versatile Gemini until 8:28am EST (see Tuesday early morning for details).

Thursday at 3:01am EST we enter a  Moon void of course (VoC). that lasts almost 5.5-hour until 8:28am EST. This is an intuitive time -- if you are awake, try using intuition to balance two desires: The desire to share yourself within your community, and the desire to explore the “larger truth” within your relationships. As always during VoC, take it easy -- go with the flow and avoid starting anything brand-new.

Thursday at 8:28am EST, the Moon moves into  protective, introverted  Cancerwhere it will journey until Saturday afternoon. With this Moon placement, we are more sensitive to what people say to (and about) us, so be kind to yourself and others.

Emotional safety is important to us at this time: We like connecting to the familiar, home or family becomes our sanctuary. Nurture yourself and others, but remember: Make sure your glass is filled before letting others drink from it — otherwise we might start resenting others for draining our energies.

Friday: the Moon remains in protective, introverted Cancer all day (see Thursday morning for details).

Friday morning, a Mercury/Pluto alignment in almost 16 degrees of  Capricorn becomes exact at 4:59am EST. We started feeling it build from Monday on -- and it will remain strong for an unusually long time (until Feb.3rd), due to Mercury's retrograde/station. This aspect is now exact for the second time in the past 30 days. We are invited to look back to the the week around Dec. 19th, to see what long-term plans we made at that time that align with something we feel deeply passionate about.

With this alignment, an all-or-nothing attitude is very likely. We have tremendous mental focus — which could tip into obsession. Choose love over fear whenever possible. Connect to the things you feel passionate about -- and connect to others, empowering them with your passions. As best as you can, choose your words carefully -- if possible, speak from that deeply connected and empowered place.

Do you have your Ascendent, Career Point (or any personal planets) in 13-19 degrees of Capricorn, Aries, Libra or CancerIf so, you may feel more connected to this alignment. This is also true for those of us who have our Ascendant or Sun-sign in Gemini, Virgo or Scorpio (Mercury is the ruler of Gemini and Virgo; Pluto rules Scorpio)

Also worth mentioning today (Friday): tomorrow morning, a long-term alignment between Jupiter and the Moon's North Node in 23 degrees of Virgo becomes exact at 5:23am EST. We started feeling it build from Dec. 27th on -- and it will be strong until Feb. 26th. This connections calls us to focus on being of service whenever we can. When we learn to be honest, orderly, and attentive to details in new ways, we feel more fulfilled and satisfied with our daily routines/work.

Taking a bigger view and allowing ourselves to apply practical and technical knowledge and skills in our daily lives will pay off; the same is true of any healthy and practical routines we develop. We'll feel more alive and optimistic if we pursue mental clarity and focus, together with productivity systems that help us pay attention to deadlines, details -- and wholesome approaches.

It might be difficult to commit ourselves to any one thing, but we need to learn to trust our inner guide—our intuition—in order to uncover more meaning in our daily routines and work schedules. We need to let ourselves believe in something that enriches our daily lives and well-being, and have faith in the growth process of our day-to-day affairs and health issues.

What are some practical steps you could take to feel more self-assured in your daily routines? How can you expand "being of service" -- in small or large ways?

Do you have your Ascendant or Sun-sign in Sagittarius? If so, you will feel more influenced by this alignment. If you are a Virgo Sun-sign or Rising-sign, for as long as Jupiter and the North Node are in your sign, you will feel a strong need to grow. You'll also feel the need bring order, clarity and wholesome approaches to your daily routines. -- in fact, this is about setting a healthy example for others.

Lots going on today (Saturday)! The Moon remains in protective, introverted Cancer until 2:21pm EST (see Thursday morning for details).

Saturday very early morning, at 1:21am EST we enter a 13-hour Moon void of course (VoC). that lasts until 2:21pm EST. Use this intuitive time as an opportunity to be of service and nurture yourself. As best as you can, help yourself and others through precise actions and down-to-earth support -- especially around finding clarity around health and daily routines. Plan your day ahead of time, or stick to routine things; if that's not going to work, simply go with the flow.

Saturday afternoon, at 2:21pm EST, the Moon moves into fun and attention-loving Leowhere it will journey until Monday evening. We have a chance to appreciate ourselves and our lives -- and to connect to the heart. Hand out as many compliments as possible, they will be deeply appreciated :-)

Fun, games and romance are a big part of this energy. You might also enjoy spending time with little ones. What are you most grateful for today? What would be heaps of fun? What would be so much fun, you squeak just thinking about it? This also starts the energetic build up towards the Full Moon (exact later this evening).

Also on Saturday afternoon, at 3:31pm EST, Venus changes signs from optimistic, adventurous Sagittarius to realistic, prestige-and-accomplishment-oriented CapricornVenus will be traveling through Capricorn until Feb. 16th. With this placement, our relationships tend to more practical in nature: We see people for who they are and are not afraid to lay the facts on the table; we take things more seriously.

We take our time warming up to others, appreciate maturity in relationships, and can make long-term commitments. There is a strong focus on business relationships. Venus is also connected to finances and the things we value; it’s therefore a perfect time to get serious and make long-term plans in these areas: As best as you can, get real about what comes in and what goes out ;-)

Do you have your Ascendant or Sun-sign in Taurus or Libra? If so, you will feel more serious and focused for the next 4 weeks; your heart will want to make practical, attainable long-term plans. If you are a Capricorn Sun-sign or Rising-sign, for as long as Venus is in your sign, you will attract more love, abundance and beauty into your life.

Saturday evening, at 8:46pm ESTthis month's Full Moon (in 3 degrees of Leobecomes exact. As mentioned above, this afternoon saw the entrance of the Moon into Leo, starting the energetic build up toward the Full Moon; relationships of all kinds are highlighted.

With the Sun in Aquarius during the next two weeks, we seek balance, being more aware than ever that something needs aligning. The balance in question is between the Aquarius-Leo polarity.

Aquarius represents a unique vision and approach to life. The classic Aquarian vision is one of interconnected equality — paradoxically, we're reminded at the same time that the power of unity lies in diversity. Leo, on the other hand, is all about our individual self-expression, creativity, ability to connect to the heart, inner joy.

This Full Moon reminds us that everyone has the power to make a difference in the world (small or large); when we join together, that power gets exponentially bigger: 3+3 becomes 3x3, 4+4 becomes 4x4, etc. If we want to see a greater shift in the world at large (Aquarius), we must each do our own part and share our unique gifts (Leo).

Uranus (the ruler of Aquarius) is making a square to the Pluto/Mercury alignment in Capricorn, inviting us to be more honest with ourselves and others (especially about our fears and desires). We are also invited to be more open to new ways of thinking, doing, and achieving -- in fact, to bring an innovative approach to who we are -- and to communicate honestly and authentically what we are here to achieve.

In other words: Step it up -- and walk your unique path. Life is too short to be wasted on things you are less than fully passionate about, that don't fully express your uniqueness. What would you rather say on your deathbed: "It was a long, exciting, multi-faceted road, well worth living" or "It was what it was... I missed out because I was afraid"?

Mercury is exalted in the sky at the time of this Full Moon. It is getting ready to once again change its direction (ending its retrograde phase). This brings an emphasis to our thinking processes and what we communicate. It is important that we think and speak truthfully and mindfully, as each thought and word creates an energetic resonance -- a vibration that seeks matching vibrations.

We are learning that we are responsible for what we put out and receive in return. What if you paid 5% more attention to what you think and say about yourself? Others? The world around you?

With this Full Moon, we are encouraged to get out of our comfort zones, and acknowledge that we are all in this together... And of course, getting out of our comfort zones means that we might get uncomfortable for a little bit. To learn more about this month's Full Moon, please click here to watch my video. (will be posted by Wednesday evening).

For this Full Moon you could ask yourself: Where could I add my voice, vision and gifts? What is my role at this pivotal time? Remember: No effort is too small, no step too little... And most of all: it's never too late to make a difference!

Do you have your Ascendant, Career Point (or personal planets) in 1-5 degrees of Leo, Aquarius, Taurus or Scorpio? If so, you are more affected by this month's Full Moon. This is also true for those of us who have our Ascendant or Sun-sign in Leo or Cancer (the Sun rules Leo; the Moon rules Cancer).

Sunday: the Moon remains in fun and attention-loving Leo all day (see Saturday afternoon for details).

Sunday at 9:51pm EST we enter a Moon void of course (VoC). that lasts for almost 25-hours, until 10:46pm EST (Monday late evening). Use this intuitive time to have fun and explore something new that doesn't necessarily have a specific outcome ;-) You could express your unique spark through creativity or via enjoyment of a physical activity (you may want to do this with other people).

As always with a Moon VoC, as best as you can, don't start anything brand-new, stick to routine things, or simply go with the flow. You may also want to plan all of Monday ahead of time ;-)

Another thing for Sunday, as you go through the day, do your best to bear in mind that Mercury will come to a halt tomorrow afternoon (Monday); this may bring some frustrations and stagnations for the next three days around things connected to the Mercury energy (travel, transportation, communication and its devices, mail, etc.)

A head's up for next Monday: the Moon remains in fun and attention-loving Leo and VoC until 10:46pm EST (see Saturday afternoon and Sunday evening for details). Take it easy in the morning and go with the flow today as much as possible.  At 4:50pm ESTMercury comes to a halt in 15 degrees of Capricorn and slowly starts its direct motionafter its 3-week retrograde phaseand at 10:46pm EST, the Moon moves into detail-oriented, practical Virgowhere it will journey until Thursday morning of next week. More about all the details in next week’s forecast ;-)
